Pakistan v Sri Lanka ODI Series - 1st ODI

Pakistan v Sri Lanka

Pakistan won by 11 runs

Lakmal to begin

Misbah said he wasn't too fussed about the possible dew. He said there wasn't any in the last two days. Angelo however believes the dew might be a factor so he's happy chasing.

Sharjeel is indeed playing and he will open with Shehzad.

Danny Morrison just kissed the pitch. Not kidding! He was drawn in by the shine on the surface.

Kiri: "Mendis will likely be ineffective. He's been played very well in recent time by Sub-continent teams. Like Andrew Fernando said, this is Mendis's chance for resurgence."

2.20pm: Good day to all of you and welcome to the coverage of the first ODI between Pakistan and Sri Lanka in Sharjah. The toss is on in ten minutes. The T20 series was tied 1-1. In the last bilateral series between these two teams in 2012, Sri Lanka won the series 3-1.

Faizan Ahmad: "Pakistan will have to show their aggression in batting. ODI squad is pretty good. I am seeing a good fight between the two teams."

6.2

Lakmal to Ahmed Shehzad, OUT, Shehzad has been given out lbw and he wants it reviewed. But the batsman took ages to signal it to the umpire and he has to go because he was timed out! Bowled from slightly wide of the crease and angles the ball inwards, Shehzad shuffled across and exposed his leg stump, struck a bit high on the pads, you could see the leg stump and that's what had him in trouble, Hawk Eye shows that hitting the top of middle, guess it wouldn't have been overturned anyway

6.30pm: So it's 322 - Hafeez the mainstay and architect but the supporting acts will please Pakistan fans the most. Two youngsters - Sharjeel Khan (on debut) and Sohaib Maqsood scoring attacking fifties. Both innings very pleasing on the eye. Afridi was at his blazing best towards the end and for a change Pakistan didn't need Misbah to bail them out.

Sri Lanka's fielding and catching was not up to the mark. Makes their job much harder. Misbah was confident the dew wouldn't be a factor. Even if it is, Pakistan have the security of a big total for their bowlers to defend.

Which way will this go? Join us at 7.15pm for the chase.

Cheema: "I absolutely feel that Pakistan can become a force to reckon with if these two youngsters (Sharjeel and Maqsood) keep their head down and continue to bat the way they have done so far in whatever opportunities they have been given. The time has come to say final good bye to the cricketing careers of Shafiq, Amin, Jamshed etc." A bit harsh on those three?
