Pakistan v Sri Lanka ODI Series - 4th ODI

Pakistan v Sri Lanka

Pakistan won by 8 wickets (with 53 balls remaining)

Junaid Khan to open the bowling to Kusal Perera

Pretty cool statistic from Andrew's preview: If Misbah hits 60 more runs in the next two matches, he will have had a more prolific ODI year than any batsman has managed since 2007, and the best aggregate in a non-World Cup year since 2000.

Roshni: "I can't imagine a match now without Cricinfo...Reading commentary and comments makes me feel like watching it live...Thankyou CI"

SALAM: "Christmas day. Half the office empty and Boss calls for a meeting at 3pm. Way to go Boss!"

2.55pm We are five minutes away from the start of play. Waqar reckons there is a little bit of grass on the wicket with some small, dry cracks on the pitch. The pitch is hard so the spinners could come into play later on in the day. Should be a good, even surface for the pacemen as well.

SamSL: "Really positive move from SL to select Kithuruwan and Ashan Priyanjan. Instead of playing them in a dead rubber, you would be able see the worth of the batsmen in this kind of situation. Kithuruwan batted very positively in his first test match."

Prince Imtiaz: "Pakistani batsman is so impressive in this series, bowling was in little worry before the entry of Gul, today batting second it will be a test for Pakistani batsman lets see how they manage batting second."

asad: "Its very rare that pakistan batsman get hundred in odi,so far in every match one of them got hundred.Expecting one today as well."

dr saheer: "today sri lanka with a balance combination, GO LIONS GO"

2.45pm Some Sri Lankan team changes as Suranga Lakmal is in for Seekuge Prasanna. Ashan Priyanjan and Kithuruwan Vithanage are in the team in place of Dimuth Karunatatne and Thisara Perera.

Haroon: "Very excited to watch in stadium weather is pretty good cool breeze blowing, sun is shining and early off from office...just love cricket."

Muhammad Abuzar Sajjad: "Its Quaid-e-Azam & Our Prime Minister Birthday, a win of Pakistan team is good gift for them."

nadhukant.shah: "Dear friends, A merry chrismas to all commentraters, players, umpires and organisers of the game."

2.35pm Sri Lanka have won the toss and have decided to bat first. We have received word that the Pakistan team are unchanged.

Arfa Sheliya: "I think gul has a good rhythm"

ASHRIT: "Sri lanka should not repeat the mistake of allowing pak to bat 1st. Because pak bowling can defend any target with ease"

Atif: "Anwar Ali must get a chance today, will be interesting to see him,,"

Shahid Mehboob: "Wow will be a great match today....Hopefully Srilanka may fight......just to make interesting only..........But Surely Pak will win today..Hip Hip Hurry"

2.30pm So what did you think of Umar Gul's comeback performance in the previous match? Quite a lengthy lay-off and returns with figures of 3 for 19 in 5.4 overs

Faizan Ahmad: "I think Sri Lanka will not repeat the mistake of bowl first. If Pakistan wins the toss and bat first, there are more chances that Pakistan will take the series, while having pretty good bowling attack."

Hakan: "I like to see Afridi as the opener of Pakistan.Just for fun"

Khurram Zia Khan: "Rusell Arnolds looking cute in christmas cap"

Uwaisul Karnain: "Mathews talked about changing the strategy prior to the game. Will he be brave enough to bat first if he wins the toss today?"

Zwaak: "Interesting and crucial toss for Mathews"

2.25pm Had too much egg nog that you can't remember what has happened this series? Look no further than El Fidel's preview, as he will provide all the twists and things to keep abreast off.

2.15pm Merry Christmas folks! Sri Lanka face two must win matches if they are to come out on top of this five-match series. Pakistan will be pleased with how they have fared so far, and will look to close it out today itself. Who will hold their nerve to come out on top? We can begin to find out in just 45 minutes' time away.

1.4

Umar Gul to Perera, OUT, a really rubbish ball from Gul slanting outside off as Kusal is tempted to have a go, but slams still straight to short cover, who takes a good catch. Looks like it was the Pakistan captain who took that sharp take. Sri Lanka lose their first wicket with just 15 on the board. Gul has simply been on a roll since returning to international cricket

And with that Saeed Ajmal finishes with 4 for 39 as Sri Lanka are dismissed for 225, a total which the Pakistanis will feel they can overhaul. It began with Umar Gul taking three quick wickets to leave Sri Lanka reeling at 36 for 3. Then came an 89-run stand which arrested the slide, before Angelo Mathews (38) and Vithanage (27) chipped in with useful contributions. But the stand-out story was the performance of debutant Ashan Priyanjan, who struck a fine 74 before going for an ill-advised paddle. We will be back in about 35 minutes' time for the Pakistan reply.
