Harry Crick

Flight-Lieutenant Harry Crick, a former Yorkshire wicketkeeper, was killed in a road accident when his car collided with a lorry at Wyke, Bradford, on February 10. He was 49. He kept wicket for Yorkshire in a few matches in 1937 and 1947, and played for Combined Services in 1949. In his 11 first-class matches he dismissed 28 batsmen and scored 124 runs. Between 1934 and 1947 he kept wicket fairly regularly for Yorkshire II. For the R.A.F. against the Army at Lord's in 1946 he opened the innings and scored 65. He kept wicket in Arthur Mitchell's benefit match in 1937, and by an extraordinary coincidence his opposing wicketkeeper in that game, E. W. J. Brooks of Surrey, died on the very same day.
