Waqar Younis has ably led Pakistan against England in the recent, drawn away Test Series. He is the 14th Pakistan captain to lead Pakistan against England and shares a drawn series performance against England with five other Pakistan captains: AH Kardar (1954), Saeed Ahmed (1968-69), Majid Khan (1972-73) Intikhab Alam (1974) and Wasim Bari (1977-78).

In fact Kardar led Pakistan to draw their first ever series against England, something that no other team before or after has achieved. Nevertheless, it took 30 more years when Zaheer Abbas, the World record holder for a double hundred and a hundred and two hundreds in a match most times, led Pakistan to their first ever series victory against England in 1983-84.

Three years later the dynamic all-rounder Imran Khan, led Pakistan to their first series win away in England in 1987. But the honour to lead Pakistan in two series wins against England is with Javed Maindad, claiming victories in the home series in 1987 and away in England in 1992.

At home, Pakistan were led in the first test series against England, by dashing wicketkeeper-batsman of the era, Imtiaz Ahmed in 1961-62.

In 1982, Imran Khan led Pakistan lost that away series (1-2) but is remembered as the most exciting and closely fought series the two teams have ever contested.

Below is Pakistan's captaincy record against England in chronological order:
