Federal Areas 196 for 8 (Amin 51, Kamran Hussain 3-36) and 146 lead Baluchistan 57 (Tanvir 7-21) by 285 runs
Scorecard

Sohail Tanvir got career-best figures of 7 for 21 after Baluchistan were bundled out for 57 on day two in Islamabad. Federal Areas extended their lead to 285, with Tanvir chipping in with a 42 in their second innings.

While 16 wickets fell on day one, another 12 fell on day two; all the wickets going to seamers. Baluchistan resumed on their overnight 33 for 6 and Tanvir picked up the wicket of Gulraiz Sadaf to add to his six from Tuesday. Yasir Arafat took 3 for 12 to end Baluchistan's innings in 21 overs.

Federal Areas got off to a poor start as they lost their openers with 15 on the board. But Umar Amin (51) and Fayyaz Ahmed (46) added 85 together to take their side to 100 before Kamran Hussain had Fayyaz caught off Rameez Alam. Kamran got another wicket soon after when he trapped Naved Ashraf leg before for 3. Tanvir's 43-run stand with Usman Saeed took Federal Areas to 176. Azharullah took two wickets and at stumps Federal Areas were at 196 for 8. Though there are two days left in the game, Baluchistan will find it hard to chase a target potentially over 300 while negotiating the in-form Tanvir.

North West Frontier Province 212 for 7 (Younis 70*, Talha 4-54) trail Punjab 265 (Azhar Ali 116, Shakeel 4-60) by 53 runs
Scorecard

North West Frontier Province's hopes of gaining a first-innings lead are pinned on Younis Khan, unbeaten on 70, as they ended day two trailing Punjab by 53 runs with three wickets in hand.

Punjab lost centurion Azhar Ali early in the day when Shakeel-ur-Rehman had him caught behind with only two runs added to the overnight total. Mohammad Talha and Mohammad Khalil took them to 265 before Shakeel dismissed Talha to end with 4 for 60.

Talha then came on to bowl and reduced NWFP to 45 for 2 before Younis steadied the innings. His 67-run partnership with Shoaib Khan snr gave them the stability they needed. Talha bowled Shoaib for 24 and also took the final wicket of the day when he dismissed Shakeel when NWFP were on 201.
