Pakistan have recalled wicketkeeper-batsman Kamran Akmal and former captain Shoaib Malik in their squad for the World Twenty20, which starts in Bangladesh in March.

Malik last played a T20 for Pakistan in November 2013 against South Africa in the UAE but was dropped for the series against Sri Lanka. Akmal, meanwhile, has not been a part of Pakistan's T20 playing XI since March last year.

Pacer Mohammad Irfan has been left out of the squads for the Asia Cup and World T20, after injuring himself in a domestic game. The fast bowler had suffered a hairline fracture on his hip in early December and was ruled out of the series against Sri Lanka but had returned to competitive cricket recently. However, he aggravated the injury during a match in the ongoing T20 tournament. A medical assessment at the National Cricket Academy showed the bowler was unfit.

"Irfan was left out as he fell and was injured again, and he needs some time for recovery," Azhar Khan, the interim chief selector said.

Asad Shafiq, who has scored just one fifty in his last 11 ODI innings was dropped from the Asia Cup squad in favour of Fawad Alam. Mohammad Talha, who is still uncapped in ODIs and T20s, was named in both squads following his performance in the Sharjah Test against Sri Lanka in January.

Pakistan squad for Asia Cup: Misbah-ul-Haq (capt), Mohammad Hafeez, Ahmed Shehzad, Sharjeel Khan, Shahid Afridi, Umar Akmal, Sohaib Maqsood, Fawad Alam, Saeed Ajmal, Abdur Rehman, Junaid Khan, Umar Gul, Anwar Ali, Bilawal Bhatti, Mohammad Talha

Okay, so we brought back Shoaib Malik and Kamran Akmal last ICC Champions Trophy in England and the result was for all to see. Dead last in tournament. Now, what make selectors think the result would be different this time around?

Need to think of future where is Raza Hassan?

ASA, I guess the team is looking great. I will definitely support our team instead of criticism.

Not good selection for Asia Cup , cz there is no middle order batsmen except Misbah uL Haq , i think #azhar_Ali deserve a chance instead of #Fawad_Alam ..

@AnwaarAhmed, I can see why you say Abdul Razzaq doesn't deserve a spot in the team, the last vital innings he played was in Pakistan losing cause in the ICC CWC 2011 against New Zealand, and since been given many opportunities, but never performs. Imran Nazir, on the contrary has not been given oppurtuinity since the last W T20 where he hit a big 72 against Bangladesh and hit rapid fours, ending with 24 fours in the tournament for second place. He has since never been given an oppurtunity to play. He should Pakistan's reserve opener in case Sharjeel Khan does bad, and since Hafeez well at 3, Shehzad needs a solid partner. Shoaib Malik isn't the greatest inclusion but in the case the U. Akmal does bad in a couple games, even though he is in top form especially for the shortest format, you have Kamran as a solid replacement, even though he is probably out of practice since he has not played in a while. Also to those of you saying drop Hafeez he is coming off a series with three century

I think this team selection is worst Abdul Razzak & Imran

I think this team selection is worst, please re call Abdul Razzak & Imran Nazir

I believe that Razzak and Imran Nazir shall be played, they still have lot of cricket left in them

The selection committee simply takes dictation. The selection smells, the entire selection committee including Azhar Khan should be fired at once.

Shoaib Malik and Kamran Akmal inclusion is good for team. I think we should support our team now rather than criticizing it. Golden Days of Abdur Razzaq are over now. Neither Abdul Razzaq nor Imran Nazir deserve the place in squad to be very honest.
