A highly regarded left-arm spinner and another graduate of Whitgift School, Freddie van den Bergh has combined his studies at Durham University with regular appearances for Surrey in second XI cricket. He played three List A games for the club in 2014, proving economical although he did not take a wicket, and signed a new contract for the 2015 season.
