South Africa tour of Pakistan, 2nd ODI: Pakistan v South Africa at Lahore, Oct 20, 2007
Pakistan won by 25 runs
20 October 2007 - day/night match (50-over match)

Hello and welcome to Cricinfo's live coverage of the secone one-day international between hosts Pakistan and South Africa in Lahore.

News from the middle is that Shoaib Malik has won the toss and Pakistan will bat.

I'm Jamie Alter, your commentator for the day.

Pakistan have made one change, dropping Mohammad Hafeez for left-arm spinner Abdur Rehman, while South Africa are unchanged from the series opener, which they won by 45 runs.

It's cooler at the Gaddafi Stadium, not as humid as it was during the first game. The pitch is the same from two days ago as the curator did not feel the other options were match-worthy. It looks drier than the other day. There are cracks all over it and this could be a good sign for the spinners later in the day. Batting first looks the right idea.

There looks to be a sizeable Saturday crowd gathering.

Yesterday South Africa decied to continue with the tour despite Thursday's bombs in Karachi which killed approximately 130 people. The two sides will move from Lahore to Multan and Karachi.

As Osman Samiuddin wrote in his preview, if Pakistan can rouse themselves out of the apathy, the listlessness that has gripped them through this series, it may even bring a little cheer to matters.

We're moments away from the start. Stay with us.

Right then, it's time to play some cricket. Imran Nazir and Kamran Akmal are the openers, Shaun Polloack has the new ball. The umpires, Asad Rauf and Billy Bowden, are in their positions. Two slips in place. Here we go!
