A good schoolboy cricket, football and fives player, Arthur Page represented Harrow against Eton in 1894 and 1894 but failed to win a Blue at Oxford where he read classics. He did, however, represent the university at real tennis and competed in the 1908 Olympics where the sport was included for the only time. He lost his semi-final match to the eventual winner, Jay Gould II of the USA in straight sets and then the bronze play-off, also in straight sets. He was called to the bar in 1901 and in 1910 unsuccessfully stood as a Conservative candidate for Derby in the general election. He served in the marines through the Great War and in 1922 was appointed the pusine judge in Calcutta. Knighted in 1930, he was appointed chief justice in Burma. He was also a prolific author.
