Opener Tasqeen Qadeer made her international debut in the 2005 Asia Cup and impressed by top scoring for Pakistan in a game they eventually lost to Sri Lanka by 14 runs. She could not continue her good form in the rest of the tournament but was nonetheless picked for the 2006 edition of the Asia Cup, in Jaipur as well as Pakistan's tour of South Africa in early January 2007. Pakistan failed to win a single match but Qadeer got her highest score of 45. The South African experience was no doubt taken in to consideration when the squad was picked for the World Cup qualifiers to be hosted by South Africa in February 2008. Qadeer played in three out of the five games Pakistan played, including the final. Now it is left to be seen if the selectors put their confidence in her for the World Cup in Australia next year.
