Horace J. Merrick, MC, who played as an amateur in a few matches for Gloucestershire between 1909 and 1911, died at Bristol in August at the age of 73, having been born on December 21, 1887. His highest score in first-class cricket was 58 against Essex at Leyton in 1909, and altogether he scored 257 runs for Gloucestershire. He was formerly a master at Clifton College, where he was also in charge of cricket, and until last year was a member of the Gloucestershire C.C.C. Council.
