Raza, Chibhabha crush Tuskers

Sikandar Raza's all-round show - an unbeaten century and four wickets - helped Mashonaland Eagles crush Matabeleland Tuskers by eight wickets in Harare. Raza's four strikes in three overs denied Tuskers the big finish they would have hoped for after being kept in check by the Eagles attack. Tuskers were 185 for 5 in the 45th over when Raza took the next four wickets to fall, including that of the centurion Craig Ervine. The Tuskers innings had been held together by Ervine, who made 103 off 124, with the next-highest score being 24 from opener Nkosana Mpofu. Tuskers were bowled out in the last over for 213.

Raza and Chamu Chibhabha then put on 142 for the second wicket to put Eagles on course. Chibhabha departed for 74 off 102 but Raza stayed unbeaten on 106 off 111 to bring up the win in the 42nd over in the company of Brendan Taylor.

Mark Mbofana and Tendai Chisoro put on an unbroken 62 for the seventh wicket to guide Mid West Rhinos home against Mountaineers in a low-scoring match in Mutare. Prince Masvaure (49) and Peter Moor (45) had rebuilt the chase of 176 with an 89-run stand after Rhinos lost their openers cheaply. However, Rhinos slipped from 98 for 2 to 117 for 6 before Mbofana and Chisoro came together. Chisoro cracked four fours and a six in his unbeaten 36 off 33 while Mbofana held one end up with an unbeaten 24 off 57 to bring up the win in the 43rd over.

Mountaineers were reeling at 112 for 8 in the 29th over after being asked to bat but the tail batted till the 46th to stretch the innings to 175. No. 9 Donald Tiripano made 28, which was the second-highest score for the side after Stuart Matsikenyeri's 31. Michael Chinouya was the most successful bowler for Rhinos with three wickets while Masvaure and Chisoro took two each.
