Mumbai 235 for 5 (Pawar 89*, Pandey 4-28) v Madhya Pradesh
Scorecard

Opener Kaustubh Pawar's resolute knock helped Mumbai recover to post a reasonable score against Madhya Pradesh in Indore. Pawar, who had been the difference in the quarter-final between the two sides previous season, faced 270 deliveries for his unbeaten 89, and along with the allrounder Ankeet Chavan, rescued the innings from 155 for 5. The MP fast bowler Ishwar Pandey picked up four wickets, and troubled the Mumbai batsmen with his control and movement. He first had the experienced Wasim Jaffer caught superbly by a diving Harpreet Singh in the slips and then also removed Hiken Shah the same way, the ball carrying straight to Harpreet this time. The wicketkeeper Aditya Tare hung around for some time to make 42 but was caught behind off Anand Rajan. Pandey struck a double blow, removing Abhishek Nayar and Suryakumar Yadav within three deliveries, before he had to leave the field with a calf injury. He came back late in the day, but was unable to bowl, having spent so much time off. MP did not take the second new ball, and Pawar and Chavan's stand grew to 80 by stumps.

Gujarat 261 for 9 (Sandeep 3-40, Harbhajan 3-61, Kaul 3-71) v Punjab
Scorecard

Smarting from their only defeat of the season to Madhya Pradesh in the previous round, Punjab had hosts Gujarat nine down for 261 in Valsad. The fast bowlers Sandeep Sharma and Siddarth Kaul picked up three wickets each, as did Harbhajan Singh. It was a day of wasted starts for Gujarat, with as many as four batsmen reaching 40 and none going on to make even a half-century. Gujarat were 173 for 7 at one stage, before Jesal Karia and Rush Kalaria carried them past 250. Harbhajan made three key strikes, getting opener Samit Gohel, the captain Parthiv Patel and the experienced Venugopal Rao.

Rajasthan 268 for 9 (Menaria 103, Saxena 71, Trivedi 3-51, Unadkat 3-54) v Saurashtra
Scorecard

Ashok Menaria made his first century of the season, and Rajasthan opener Vineet Saxena chipped in with 71 as the defending champions reached 268 for 9 against Saurashtra in Jaipur. Rajasthan's batting has been a worry for them through the season, and apart from a 102-run stand between Saxena and Menaria, today was no different. Hrishikesh Kanitkar, Puneet Yadav and Dishant Yagnik made twenties but could not carry on. The quick bowlers Jaydev Unadkat and Siddharth Trivedi picked up three wickets each for Saurashtra, who chose to field. Uandkat dismissed both Menaria and Saxena.

Hyderabad 247 for 6 (Sandeep 68, Ashish Reddy 60*) v Railways
Scorecard

B Sandeep and Ashish Reddy hit fifties as hosts Hyderabad reached 247 for 6 against Railways. The spinners Murali Kartik and Karan Sharma had reduced Hyderabad to 160 for 6 after Sanjay Bangar dismissed the captain and opener Akshath Reddy cheaply. The other opener K Sumanth (45) and Sandeep steadied things before another wobble saw Hyderabad going from 158 for 3 to 160 for 6. This time, it was left to Ashish Reddy, in the company of Amol Shinde, to guide the hosts safely till stumps with the highest, and quickest, partnership of the innings - 87 at close to four runs an over.
