James Sharples made the briefest of first-class appearances, scoring 0 in his only innings against Leicestershire in 1922. He had played for Hythe CC in Kent before moving to Wales to work at the National Oil Refinery. He left to work in Egypt and then Turkey in the late 1920s and his date and place of death are unknown.
