Dr Henry Maturin, M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P., who was born at Clondevaddock, Co. Donegal on April 5, 1842, died at Hartley Wintney, in Hampshire, on February 24. He played for Middlesex in 1863 and later for Hampshire, being a good batsman and field and a useful fast round-armed bowler. His career in great matches was short, but he kept up his cricket in village games until well past 70, often obtaining wickets. He played for Fourteen of Hampshire at the Oval in the only match lost by Surrey in the season of 1864.
