A strapping right armer, Matthew Pascoe is another on Queensland's extraordinarily long list of well regarded fast bowlers. He is a level-headed cricketer whose attitude is complemented by an ability to generate good pace from a lively run-up and economical action. With names like Bichel, Kasprowicz, Dale and Muller alongside him in the state squad, his opportunities at the domestic level have naturally remained limited to date. Nonetheless, his glittering junior record (not to mention some consistently impressive performances for club side Toombul) acts as a testament to both his raw ability and his potential. The combination of his penetration with the ball and his hard hitting with the bat won him, for instance, selection as the player of the carnival at the national under-17 championships in Adelaide in 1994-95. He has also variously been a member of Australian under-19 teams and was chosen as an inductee of the Australian Cricket Academy in 1998. (John Polack, June 2000)
