Mordaunt Henry Caspers Doll, who died at Devizes on June 30, aged 78, was a hard-hitting batsman. In the Charterhouse XI from 1905 to 1907, he hit 195 against Westminster in the last season, when he and RLL Braddell put on 214 together--180 of them in an hour. From 1912 to 1919 he played occasional matches for Middlesex and against Nottinghamshire at Lord's in 1913, scored 102 not out in an unfinished stand of 182 in two hours with HR Murrell. He toured the West Indies with the MCC team captained by A. F. Somerset in 1912-13 and also appeared for Hertfordshire.
