Vincent Maximillian Tancred, a brother of Messrs. A. B. and L. J. Tancred, the well-known South African cricketers, shot himself at Johannesburg on June 3rd, being then but 29 years of age. He was a good allround cricketer, useful as batsman, bowler, and wicket-keeper, and was among the reserves for the team which visited England last summer. He played for South Africa and the Transvaal against Lord Hawke"s team in 1898-9, and for the Transvaal against the Australians in 1902.
