A fast-medium bowler, Bert Morgan played six times for Somerset in 1909 and 1910 and is a forgotten figure but, according to Pelham Warner, he could have played for England "had he not been such a rover". He played for Surrey Colts and Middlesex 2nd XI before qualifying for Somerset in 1908, and in 1911 he headed to the Staffordshire leagues and eventually into Minor Counties cricket with them, taking 222 wickets at 13.71. An accident in 1924 led to him losing the ability to bowl fast, but he switched to spin and moved into the Scottish league and then to the Birmingham leagues.
