Morgan Uriah Herbert, a legendary country player in Western Australia, died in Duncraig on June 15, aged 81. Good enough to represent Western Australia after the war while still based on his father's sheep farm, Herbert played 18 first-class games from 1945-46 to 1954-55, scoring 398 runs at an average of 14.21 and taking 40 wickets at 42.75. His best performance, 7 for 45 against the 1947-48 Indians, earned him a place in the Australian squad.
