India tour of South Africa, 5th ODI: South Africa v India at Centurion, Dec 3, 2006
South Africa won by 9 wickets (with 112 balls remaining)
3 December 2006 (50-over match)

Welcome to Cricinfo's live coverage of the final match of the one-day series between South Africa and India at Centurion. While South Africa have already won the series 3-0, there is still much at stake for India. A good showing here - perhaps even a win - will raise their spirits ahead of the Test series. South Africa will not want to give them that confidence.

George Binoy and Sajan Nair will be your commentators for the game. I'll start off proceedings and Sajan will take over later in the day.

Toss: Graeme Smith has won the toss again but decided to bowl this time. He should enter a lottery, that's five in a row that he's won. Virender Sehwag said that he would have batted anyway so he isn't too fussed. The pitch looks like it has a bit of moisture so lets see how that pans out ...

We aren't far away from the start so do read Dileep Premachandran's preview for all the pre-match news.

Teams
South Africa Graeme Smith (capt), AB de Villiers, Herschelle Gibbs, Jacques Kallis, Ashwell Prince, Mark Boucher, Justin Kemp, Shaun Pollock, Robin Peterson, Andre Nel, Makhaya Ntini

India Virender Sehwag (capt), Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman, Dinesh Mongia, Dinesh Karthik, Mahendra Singh Dhoni (wk), Irfan Pathan, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, Anil Kumble, Sreesanth

South Africa have made just one change to their team, Robin Peterson replaces Andrew Hall. India, on the other hand, have made three changes: VVS Laxman, Dinesh Mongia and Harbhajan are in while Ajit Agarkar, who picked up a groin injury in the Pro20 game, Wasim Jaffer and Mohammed Kaif miss out.

Sachin Tendulkar is back opening the innings, there's no Wasim Jaffer in the line-up today. He'll be at the non-striker's end as usual while Virender Sehwag faces the first ball. Shaun Pollock has the new ball and is cantering in from over the wicket. Remember Pollock and Makhaya Ntini didn't play the Pro20 that South Africa lost.

The last match in the ODI series with India 3-0 down. India could look at this game as something to get out of the way before the Tests, or they could take heart from their win in the Pro20 match on Friday. And from the return of VVS Laxman. For South Africa, this is a chance to make a clean sweep and go into the Tests with confidence high. Much to play for for both teams, then href="http://blogs.cricinfo.com/matchvox/"target="new"> post your thoughts and share them with the others who've turned up and tuned in.

    • D Mongia 3 (9b)

Led by an outstanding spell from Shaun Pollock, South Africa tied India down to 200 for 9. It's by no means a daunting target. However, there are a few battles to focus on. Will Graeme Smith overcome his demons against Zaheer Khan? Can India make early inroads and sustain the pressure with their spinners? Or will Jacques Kallis anchor South Africa's victory? What do you think?

We will be back in 40 minutes time, George will take up commentary when we resume - be sure to join us after the break.
