New Zealand will be happy with that effort. Sure enough, Smith would have mulled over his decision to bat first in these overcast conditions. The seamers, led by Bond, did well to land the ball in the right areas to share out eight wickets. However, New Zealand's inexperienced openers will have to be extremely careful as they bat out the remaining overs. There's still plenty of bat on this surface and Steyn is likely to be deadly, given his ability to swing the ball at raw pace.
