Pakistan in South Africa T20I Match

South Africa v Pakistan

South Africa won by 10 wickets (with 51 balls remaining)

Hello and welcome to coverage of the Twenty20 clash between South Africa and Pakistan at the Wanderers. I'm Andrew McGlashan and, along with Martin Williamson, will be bringing you this match.

South Africa are on a high after their 2-1 Test series win while Pakistan are able to welcome back some of their key allrounders. Twenty20 cricket is non-stop action so this match should be exciting viewing and should set both teams up for the five-match ODI series. Also, with a Twenty20 World Championship in September, teams need to get used to this format - and quickly.

Stay with us for all the team and toss news, play is due to start at 18.00 (16.00GMT)

News from the middle is that South Africa have won the toss and decided to bowl, so Graeme Smith must fancy chasing down a target on the ground where they made 438 for 9 to beat Australia in a full ODI last year.

Quick team news - Inzamam-ul-Haq is injured so Younis Khan captains and Kamran Akmal opens but doesn't keep wicket

9.1

Telemachus to Shoaib Malik, OUT, BRILLIANT! great work from backward point, Malik dropped in down by his feet, Younis called him through but the direct hit caught him well short

Younis Khan run out 1 (5m 4b 0x4 0x6) SR: 25.00

Here's the man everyone wants to watch - Shahid Afridi

9.2

Telemachus to Shahid Afridi, no run, ouch! painful blow in the stomach (or slightly lower!) as he goes for a pull and misses

9.3

Telemachus to Shahid Afridi, no run, wow, a leave from Afridi! that's a rarity, even in Test cricket let alone Twenty20

9.4

Telemachus to Shahid Afridi, no run, shoulders arms again, you can't draw these matches Mr Afridi

9.5

Telemachus to Shahid Afridi, 1 wide, way down the leg side, easy call for the umpire

Shoaib Malik    7* (9b)

mid off back to long off now

bit of a rain falling now, just to add to the drama

11.3

Telemachus to Abdul Razzaq, 2 runs, forced wide of point, Peterson dives but doesn't get near it and ball travels out to deep point

slip brought back in

11.4

Telemachus to Abdul Razzaq, no run, shoulders arms...and the rain gets too heavy now

Umpires tried to stay on, but the rain's too heavy now and the players run for cover as the sheets are brought out to cover the pitch

Hopefully this won't last too long. Stay with us and we'll (hopefully!) keep you posted as to the latest weather situation. Match interestingly poised with Malik and Razzaq trying to rebuild Pakistan's innings and the ball zipping sideways in overcast conditions.

7.05pm It's still raining in Johannesburg, sadly. For those of you asking about Afridi, he was getting some treatment from the physio and we'll let you know as soon as we have some more.

This doesn't look too good, some extra covers being brought on. When it rains in Johannesburg, it really rains.

7.15pm Good news, rain has stopped, covers are off. Will give any news of overs, time etc in a moment

They are back, here we go...

11.5

Telemachus to Abdul Razzaq, no run, bouncer, flies over Razzaq's helmet

Afridi's back after his earlier injury problem

13.6

Telemachus to Shahid Afridi, 1 run, pushed down to long off and Afridi opens his account

That ends a fine spell from Telemachus, under a run-a-ball in Twenty20 is outstanding

still a slip for Morkel

14.4

Morkel to Shoaib Malik, no run, another flash and miss! not footwork from Malik, who hasn't played cricket for a while

14.5

Morkel to Shoaib Malik, OUT, GOT 'IM! That's why the slip is in, Malik pushes away from his body, but the bounce and movement is too much and the edge flies to Justin Kemp

17.2

Thomas to Shahid Afridi, no run, backs away and tries to give himself room, Thomas holds his line outside off stump and Afridi misses

17.3

Thomas to Shahid Afridi, OUT, GONE! That was always on the cards, good length ball on off stump, tries to go over the leg side but gets a leading edge and it goes high to backward point. Robin Peterson judges the catch well, running backwards, and that's Pakistan's last main striker gone

19.3

van der Wath to Abdur Rehman, 1 bye, goes straight through to the keeper and they scramble an extra, good thinking from this pair - every run could be vital

19.4

van der Wath to Naved-ul-Hasan, 2 byes, madness all round! they run another bye but de Villiers' throw is wild and flies down to long on and they get a second

19.6

van der Wath to Naved-ul-Hasan, SIX, SMASH! that goes all the way as well, what a finish for Pakistan. Rana gets underneath this one and flicks it off his toes, over deep square-leg for another maximum

So 12 off the last two balls has given Pakistan something to bowl at. There's plenty of life in the track and early wickets will be key in South Africa's innings. Join us in a few minutes for the restart.

Here come Graeme Smith and Loots Bosman to start the chase. Rana Naved to open the bowling, fresh from his two late sixes. Two slips in, Younis attacking
