Charles Nepean was a middle-order batsman who played for Oxford University in 1870 and 1873, winning a Blue in his final year, although he was 12th man in his first. He made only one first-class fifty but made it when it mattered, in Oxford's second innings in the 1873 Varsity match as they edged a three-wicket win. He played twice for Middlesex and, on the strength of his innings for the university, for Gentlemen against Players. He entered the church on leaving Oxford and gave up cricket.
