5.00pm The captains pose for photographs with the trophy, after a frustrating Test match that was always interesting when play was possible. Thanks for joining us over these five days, and keep doing so and keep sending in your comments. Until next time, bye!

4.50pm Shikhar Dhawan is the man of the match. "I really enjoyed my batting," he says. "The wicket was nice and batting-friendly. Vijay played a great knock and Rahane played a great knock after us. You feel very stable when [Vijay] is at the other end and playing according to the merit of the ball. If the rain happens, then I just go off the field, and once I come back, it takes a few balls to get it back. I don't think too much about the rain, otherwise it will affect your concentration."

Virat Kohli: "We had a really good time with the bat, especially Vijay, Shikhar, Rahane. It was a selfless performance, to score quickly, knowing we won't have too much time because of the rain. Disappointing for both teams, we would have liked to have a full five days of cricket. Whatever time we had on the field the boys had top intensity and put in a really good effort. [Ashwin and Harbhajan] are quality spinners, so watching them both bowl together is very pleasing for a captain. They put batsmen under pressure throughout. I'm very pleased as a skipper, because it's very easy to go off the field and come on and not have intensity. The wicket played exactly the way we expected it to play. We thought if there was no rain around, it would reverse and we could use our pace bowlers in the middle and give the spinners some rest. Combination was right, as far as we were concerned, but the conditions were in no one's control. [Bangladesh] have shown they are a really talented side, especially in one-day cricket they are right up there. In Test matches as well, they want to be up there. They have been stepping up on the biggest stages, including the World Cup. That shows the potential and hard work they have with their cricket and I wish them well."

Mushfiqur Rahim: "When it rains so much, it's very difficult to control, but credit goes to the groundsmen, they did a really good job. It can be debated, but we thought on that wicket there would be nothing for the quicks, and we don't have anyone who can bowl 145-plus. I thought our bowlers did a good job even though it was a flat track on days one and two. You'd love to have big scores like Shikhar and Murali Vijay and Rahane did, but when Ashwin is bowling that well it becomes difficult. The [ODI] squad is looking pretty good, but it's a strong Indian side. We played well against Pakistan, so hopefully we will get confidence from that."

4.45pm Do read Sidharth Monga's fifth-day report. He makes a pretty astute point about Bangladesh's carefree batting approach: "... theirs was a general air of just having a good time without having to worry about the result because it had been ruled out. In a live Test they might well have shown more application."

Saurabh: "@Manu: The problem is that India in general have been poor in the slips post Dravid and Laxman. I don't think its just lack of serenity that's causing this. Shane Warne with all his aggressive posturing on the field was a fine slipper. I believe the Indian fielders have yet to master the technique of staying down low and keeping sufficiently still; its a technical issue if you ask me. They just need to put in more and more practice to get it right." -- I think Warne was very very good at compartmentalising the aggression, and was wonderfully calm and still in the slips, but the wider point you make is valid.

4.35pm And that is that. Kohli shakes hands with the two batsmen in the middle, and the Test match comes to its expected end. Solid performance by India, and they would have probably won this with plenty of time to spare if there hadn't been so much rain. As it happened, they end up slipping down to No. 4 on the Test rankings. Some encouraging individual performances for Bangladesh, particularly Shakib and Jubair Hossain with the ball and the debutant Litton Das with the bat.

S Dhawan to Imrul, no run

tossed up on off stump, very full, defended back down the ground

I suspect this is going to be the last over of the match. Shikhar Dhawan takes his floppy hat off, gives it to the umpire. He bowls offspin too. Sort of.
