"Felt pretty good, Funny kind of wicket. Didn't feel like I was in at any stage. Forced me to play more conservatively," says AB de Villiers after 89 off 85 (Oh, come on!). 5.55 pm It wasn't the most straightforward pitch. South Africa utilised it to have New Zealand in all sorts of trouble before Luke Ronchi played out of his skin to set up a competitive total. And so it looked until AB de Villiers grabbed the match and made it do his bidding. It didn't look all that obvious, there weren't belligerent strokes. There were 20-odd overs without a boundary, and yet South Africa have completed this chase with 11 balls to spare. He had excellent support from JP Duminy, who broke past an edgy start to open up and play some brilliant shots and eventually sealed the game in emphatic fashion. New Zealand's first ODI in Mount Maunganui's ODI goes sour, although the scenery was reliably stunning.
