Commentary

8.30 pm Phew, these low-scoreres. New Zealand seemed to be out of it after posting only 156, but Mitchell McClenaghan produced his best performance in one-day cricket and his five-for was almost steering his side to a surprise victory if not for Darren Sammy catching the game by the scruff of the neck. West Indies have taken this game, but they should look close and hard on their batting and the application or lack thereof. New Zealand can't escape the same assessment, especially on home conditions. Both teams suffered from a few unfortunate dismissals as they middled the ball but hit it straight to the fielder. It was a tough pitch to negotiate and the ball was moving around as much, so perhaps that contributed just as much to the two low scores. Oh and before I forget, New Zealand's search for wickets brought about 14 wides which also proved instrumental on the result.

Pagare: "How many times does Sammy have to come to Windies' rescue!!! He is like the Michael Bevan for Windies, just with more boundaries and less singles/doubles..."

Amit S: "@Pagare: Bevan is a passe.....Sammy saves Windies many a times ala MSD!"

Texas Holdom: "Terribly ill-disciplined bowling from NZ. Remove the wides - all FOURTEEN of them - and the Windies are in a completely different situation with 25+ to go with 2 wickets remaining. McClenaghan might be taking wickets, but the Black Caps have to right this for the rest of the series."

McClenaghan to Sammy, FOUR runs, Sammy, you beauty. It was the slower ball and Sammy got under it to cream it through midwicket to signal a much needed victory. He punches the air in triumph and pulls the bat across his neck to mark the end of the game. What an innings. What a game.

McClenaghan to Sammy, no run, another full toss on off stump and Sammy is looking for the no-ball. No dice. He was swinging off his feet again and the ball takes the bottom off the bat and goes off straight down the ground

McClenaghan to Sammy, SIX runs, that was not the ball he should have bowled, it was short, it gave him just enough room to hoick the ball into the stands behind midwicket. He was already making room outside leg to cream it over the top and the ball just helped his efforts

Sunil Narine is out there now

Anoop Khushalani: "I can't wait for Nariane to hit square cut. He only plays two shots. Square cuts or straight hits."

Neesham to Holder, OUT, and he has a wicket off the last ball of the over. It wasn't the best ball he's bowled as Holder sees this on the pads and looks to flick it away for some easy runs, but doesn't get as much bat as he would have hoped. Ronchi makes no mistake in pouching the edge and New Zealand are back in this

Neesham to Sammy, 1 run, that time the pull shot connects off the middle and he keeps it down to midwicket

Neesham to Sammy, SIX runs, top edge for six behind the keeper, a telling blow which possibly puts West Indies ahead in the game. Sammy, as has been his wont, in this little innings has given it his all as the short ball at the body is sent packing, but nowhere near where he was hoping to put it away
