Commentary

That's all we have for you here, but do stick around for the report and Gnasher is at the ground to bring you all the latest from Wellington. A little way away in Perth Australia are trying to steady themselves after a couple of early strikes so do tune in and keep up with all the latest in the world of cricket right here on our site. From here though, this is Alagappan Muthu signing off on behalf of our scorer Sanjay Murari

4.39 pm Darren Sammy says well played to New Zealand, especially to Boult who got a 10-for. He adds that they had to learn a lot from the opposition. They got a big score and bowled really well to back it up. Looking at Boult's drop and the dollies that we dropped, we didn't bat well, we didn't bowl well. The wicket does a bit but you have to stay out there in the middle, we weren't able to do that. It isn't all doom and gloom. We were in a good mood after Dunedin. We''ll look to dust ourselves off and come back well in Hamilton.

"I'm delighted for these guys," says Brendon McCullum after his first win as captain. he says they had done well in Dunedin to be in a strong position. He says it was a psychological boost when the batters do well on a tough wicket. They had received some criticism over the past, which was deserved, he says, but the batters did very well in this Test match. He praised the bowlers for their effort, saying they were quite disciplined. Regarding the decision to enforce the follow-on, He was wary that the wicket could have flattened out and thought the conditions would be best for bowling today. He said they knew Boult and Southee could not bowl long spells, but the other bowlers were still fresh. Things had looked a little difficult at 70 for no loss, but the bowlers stuck to their task. The fielding was outstanding. "We were creating chance," he says. Winning is something to cherish and its the first one for some of the guys so we'll enjoy ourselves now and will regroup tomorrow afternoon.

Trent Boult, the Man of the Match said the win and his performance were pretty big higlights that he would not forget in a hurry. He called the pitch a decent wicket and said it was always enjoyable bowling in Wellington with the wind and the overcast conditions. He was pleased with the way he got to move the ball and once it started swinging he just bowled within himself and enjoyed his success. He chuckles at the mention of that catch he took to dismiss Denesh Ramdin in the second innings, saying he would be torn what to look for in the replays.

4.31 pm I fear to type out "comprehensive victory" because I'm almost certain that will end up being an understatement. New Zealand were put on on a green wicket and they put up a mammoth 441, courtesy Ross Taylor's second ton in as many Tests. And then the bowlers closed things out with ruthless precision. Trent Boult was the star by far, recording his career-best figures and picking up his first 10-for in the match as well and an absolutely eye-popping catch. Tim Southee and Neil Wagner were quite potent as well and a combination of seam movement, persistence and discpline (and lack thereof by West Indies) New Zealand relish a well-deserved victory. The visitors will have a lot of soul seaching to do, losing 16 wickets today alone. Batting collapses are becoming the norm. They did begin quite well in the second innings, but ever since the first wicket fell, they were broken. Stick around for the presentation, this should be a sweet one for New Zealand

"Lighting Boult strikes again! Predicting him to close out the match and get his 10 wicket bag." You make a good fortune teller, Another Ben

Trevor: "I have supported the West Indies for so long and I can't remember feeling so ashamed at the lack of pride this team has shown. Getting beaten by an innings in 3 days by a team ranked lower than them."

Frank Rizzo: "Let's not get carried away folks, our bowlers have bowled pretty well overall, very well in patches, but this test has seen some poor batting by the Windies."

Boult to Gabriel, OUT, thats ten wickets in the match for Trent Boult and it is New Zealand's first win in 2013 as the ball shatters into the stumps. Full and swinging in, Gabriel tries his best to keep it out, but it was too quick and it was moving too much for him as Boult picks up his ninth wicket of the day

Boult to Gabriel, no run, loud, beseeching cry for leg before but the umpire is unmoved. It was full, it was seaming in, but it had pitched outside leg stump, only just, before thudding into the pads

Shannon Gabriel is the last man standing between New Zealand and an innings win

Chris W: "I can see Trent Boult racking up 300 test wickets at this rate. Mr Southee might not be that far behind that either. Good signs for the future!"

Boult to Best, OUT, catching practice for Peter Fulton and West Indies are nine down. It was shortish and on that off stump corridor. Best wasn't sure whether he wanted to play or leave and in the end the outside edge goes at a good height to second slip who makes no mistake

Ali Ahmed: "i think WI cricket is going nowhere .they can win ODIs but not test matches by these players. Bravo should be in the team instead of Sammy as an allrounder"

Boult to Chanderpaul, 1 run, shuffles across to work the shortish ball on middle to deep fine leg and takes the single this time

Boult to Chanderpaul, no run, there was a single on offer after Chanderpaul bunted the shortish ball outside off stump towards point, but he does not take it

Wagner to Best, no run, and that was the extent of his patience. He sees one in his arc and goes for a full blooded swing down the ground, but Wagner manages to make this one swing away after pitching to beat the bat
