So that's 1-0 New Zealand with a fine performance, firstly with the bat in racking up a good total and then doing enough with the ball, especially in the last two overs when it looked like England were going to get over the line. The Kiwis probably won it with their fielding. Tight margins today but the tourists have won and now we come back on Thursday, same time, same channel, same venue to finally end this tour. That's it from me, see you Thursday...

Here are the captains: "The guys showed some great character," England captain Eoin Morgan said. "We thought it was a chaseable total. It would be very specific stuff to look back on what we could have done better, and margins are very small. It's not as frustrating as the other night, today is a great performance with the young guys we had here. We have a fantastic run chase record and with the short boundary the guys had confidence."

Brendon McCullum on his outrageous slip fielder: "The only way to stem the flow of runs is to take wickets and we managed to do that. That's why I had the slip in. At the end it was a good opportunity for Corey and we had a chat and he was incredibly calm under pressure." Hamish Rutherford is Man of the Match and his captains says about him: "Hamish was outstanding the way he stuck the ball, he settled the entire line up and showed you could get value for your shots."

So again England just fail to get over the line but this has been a high-scoring thriller, superb entertainment and New Zealand have won by five runs the same margin England lost by on Sunday but there was no choke today, this was a stiff chase and they gave it a good go. England had a cracking start to the chase but it was always a big ask to keep up with a tough asking rate.
