1.3 and this is a major victory, a leaden-footed Fulton poking at a very similar ball to tickle an edge through to Prior! England land the first blow, in this bar-room brawl of a match - Broad pitched it back of a length and wide of the stumps, Fulton had all day to size it up, never any need to play at the ball, but he was lulled in, seduced by some irresistible urge and now the lulz are on him 1/1
5.1 jags from leg to off and Rutherford loses his off pole! Brilliant bowling from Broad and both openers are back in the pavilion! He rolled his fingers over the ball, Rutherford should have been forward but he got squared up and played down the Bakerloo line ... NZ may have been worried about Anderson but Broad is threatening to run amok 16/2
9.4 full and wide and inviting the drive - and Williamson has chipped straight to cover! Finn was so surprised by that he fell on his backside. Woeful shot, given the situation, and completely unexpected, given the batsman. There are 15 minutes until lunch, NZ are four down and Broad has taken all of them 21/4
5.3 edged and Cook scoops it up with his fingers brushing the blades of grass, two in three balls for Broad and New Zealand are reeling, three men down! It was a decent delivery shaping away outside off, again it could probably have been left but Taylor pushed at it with hard hands and the ball flew low to first slip, where Cook locked both hands tightly around it before rolling and jumping up with a great big grin on his face 16/3
10.4 this one holds its line and Brownlie nicks off! One in, one out and New Zealand are being shaken all about, caught between the jaws of Anderson and Broad. There wasn't much footwork from Brownlie but the previous delivery, which bent back at him like a homing missile, must have been on his mind, this one held its line on a length and he could only poke it to slip 25/5
11.4 full and this time coming back, McCullum's on the walk and hit on the front pad! Steve Davis gives it but the batsman reviews, as he had to, New Zealand's most dangerous player, the only man who can realistically win this for them ... but Hawk Eye deems it to be in line and will stay as the on-field call, Broad has five and McCullum is gone! It was fractional, looked like McCullum might have just got outside the line, but no. Memories of Cape Town come flooding back for this fragile line-up as the players go off for lunch with New Zealand 29 for 6 and still needing 210 for victory 29/6
18.4 edged and taken by Trott. 54/8
15.2 but the drop it doesn't matter because Southee has pulled the next ball - a short one - to Joe Root who takes the catch in front of the grandstand. Took a few steps to his left hand side and took it solidly with two hands 41/7
22.3 what on earth just happened!? Whatever it was, New Zealand have been finished off in comical fashion. It was a pull shot straight up in the air by Wagner that swirled around and was dropped by long leg running in and then out-running the chance, the ball was picked up and thrown back and Anderson collected it and found Wagner mid-pitch unsure of whether they were going to take a second, Anderson dashed back to the bowler's-end stumps and removed the bails and Wagner was well short of his ground 68/10
21.6 full and straight, Martin clears the front leg and eyes glory in a swipe down the ground but is comprehensively cleaned up and the stump mic is uprooted. Broad finally gets one right on the money, Martin fancied a heave and missed completely 67/9
