Commentary

Breathless stuff! West Indies win by 25 runs after bowling England out for just 88, a touch improbably you might say. They were a transformed team tonight, particularly in the field. It really didn't feel as though they had got enough as they struggled to 113 for 5, but this was a tired surface that gave encouragement to all the bowlers and made strokeplay quite difficult. The sort of pitch that West Indies have become accustomed to back home. Garey Mathurin led the way with 3 for 9 after being asked to open the bowling, and as they sensed the chance for a win West Indies lifted noticeably in the field.

"West Indies just did something in just 2 attempts, which India couldn't in 10 attempts," writes Mithal. "Awesome effort Windies!"

"We did everthing right for half the game, and everything wrong for the other half," says Graeme Swann. "You live and learn, with a young side like this. We just panicked I think. We played some poor shots, and four run-outs doesn't help the cause. Buttler getting run out was a kick in the teeth as it got me out there, and then I immediately ran Scott Borthwick out. Borthwick, with the ball and with the bat, was exceptional on debut. Samit Patel was also really good with the ball. We wanted to win this game to end the summer. It's been a fantastic summer, there are so many positives you can take out of it. We've got to learn from this, but in the wider picture it's been a good summer."

"I think we identified our areas," says a beaming Darren Sammy. "We weren't happy with the way we batted, but we saw how difficult it was to score. Coach Ottis Gibson and I reminded the guys that anything is possible in the huddle before the second innings. The fielding improved tremendously, well done to all the guys. Santokie is one of the best seamers in our Caribbean tournament. Before I go I'd just like to thank the few supporters who came out to see us tonight."

Garey Mathurin is Man of the Match on his international debut, and he has this to say: "I'm very very ecstatic. Everybody knew that i came here at the last minute. I just wanted to show my worth and what I'm made of. When England bowled yesterday we saw some turn, it was the same today and I just tried to mix up the pace too. I always open the bowling for Windward Islands, so I've come over and done basically the same thing," he adds, holding his bottle of champers aloft in celebration as he leaves the podium.

That's about all from your commentary team tonight. Have a look at Andrew Miller's report if you've missed any of what has turned out to be an unexpectedly engrossing contest. Or even if you have, Miller's always worth a read. We'll also have a gallery up in a few moments. Until next time, goodbye!

Bishoo to Dernbach, 1 run, OUT, a sliding delivery goes on with the arm as Dernbach steps back to clip to leg ... they push hard for the second run, Swann calling Dernbach across immediately, but the throw is on target and Christian has the bails off in a flash. Dernbach is short, he's out, West Indies win! They had all wandered back to their positions, they didn't think it was that close. A wide smile spready across Sammy's face as the decision flashed up on the big screen, which is wonderful to see

Bishoo to Dernbach, no run, cracked hard to extra cover off the back foot

Bishoo to Dernbach, 2 runs, a typcially ungainly slash into the off side from Dernbach, and they're back for the second as the return throw hits the keeper's pads and rolls to fine leg

Bishoo to Dernbach, no run, beaten on the outside edge! Dernbach leaned tentatively foward but the ball gripped and ripped past his defensive bat

Right, Dernbach is on strike, and he'll have the legspin of Bishoo to deal with.

Sammy to Swann, OUT, another run out! Swann pushed to cover once more and Borthwick charged out of the blocks. Swann went nowhere, and by the time Borthwick turned back the ball was already being thrown back to Sammy. West Indies close in on a morale-boosting win.
