van Zyl ton hands another defeat for Bangladesh A

Bangladesh A slipped to their third straight defeat, as South Africa A beat them by six wickets in Mirpur. Opener Stiaan van Zyl starred with an unbeaten 109 off 154 balls, which included eight fours, to steer South Africa home with an over to spare in their chase of 246. While van Zyl took his time to score, he was supported by partners who opted for a more aggressive approach. Captain and wicketkeeper Morne van Wyk scored 31 in 33, striking four fours and a six while Dean Elgar, who came in with the score on 138 for 4, raced to 57 off 43 balls to seal South Africa's victory.

Each of Bangladesh's top seven batsman managed to reach double-figures but only one among them consolidated on the start to reach a half-century. Nazimuddin top scored with 61, adding 56 for the first wicket with captain Shamsur Rahman followed by 56 more with Marshall Ayub before being dismissed with the score on 112.

At 168 for 3, Bangladesh would have hoped to post a sizable target but their failure to build on partnerships cost them. They had to settle for a below-par 243, chased down with little difficulty by South Africa's batsmen. Lonwabo Tsotsobe was a touch expensive but grabbed 2 for 49, while Elgar also impressed with the ball, taking 2 for 39.
