Full commentary

Well, that's just smashing - for England, crushing New Zealand by 114 runs in the opening match of this five ODI series at Chester-le-Street. It was a tale of two contrasting teams today - and of Pietersen's extraordinary shots in his first one-day ton in England.

It's not surprising to hear that Pietersen has been named Man of the Match. Paul Collingwood says there isn't much England could have done better today, while Daniel Vettori admits New Zealand were poor. The contrasting emotions.

Well, thanks for joining us today, do come back for the next match on Wednesday from Edgbaston. From Andrew McGlashan and Jenny Roesler it's goodbye.
