Full commentary

Well, India victors by 39 runs

They will be pleased as punch with this performance

Their batting never really took off in the face of some good bowling by England's seamers, some rash strokes were responsible for wickets at regular intervals, only Harbhajan with a spirited 37 lifted them to 203

In the end though it was too much for England, who also got off to a horrible start as Pathan nabbed out to early wickets

Flintoff and Pietersen led a fightback but Dravid backed his spinners, and Harbhajan finished with a career-best 5 for 31, what a match he had

Yuvraj chipped in with two wickets as well

India take a 1-0 lead in the series

Harbhajan is the righful Man-of-the-Match for his 37 and 5-31 later in the day, a great allround performance from him

"It feels great to be back in the wickets...its been a while and it really is special...i was confident of getting back and God was kind to me today, I bounced back with five wickets...thanks to all who kept faith in me"

Flintoff hopefull of bouncing back in the next game

Dravid: "i dont think we batted well at all, 203 was not enough...but harbhajan bowled brilliantly...and Irfan bowled some very good first overs for us....once you put people under pressure strange things happen....harbhajan did excellently well today, he also scored those 37 vital runs...

Thats all from the presentation ceremony, hope youve enjoyed this match

Please join us for the second ODI on March 31, coverage will begin at 3:30GMT [9 am IST}

This is Jamie Alter saying cheers and goodbye

Pathan to Plunkett, OUT

all over! Pathan wraps it up! Pushes one fast on off, Plunkett pokes at it and Dhoni glady takes the edge, England all out for 164, India win by 39 runs! What a match, a complete cracker, wickets, runs, catches, it was all here at the Kotla! India fought back tremendously with the ball to script a great win, England just lacked the fight after Pietersen and Flintoff fell
