2:56pm That's all from us today. Thanks for joining. We'll bring you the Cape Town ODI soon. In the mean time, PV Sindhu is playing in the final of the India Open, where she is the defending champion. Follow all the live updates here.

Kohli: We thought at the toss the ball was going to do a bit early. Again Bhuvi and Bumrah didn't give too much away. We knew if we got the two openers, the middle order would be shaky. The pitch was harder than Durban and the spinners used it. We knew we won't get grass on the pitch because when it's seaming, it can be anyone's game. We knew the wickets would be hard and dry and knew our wristpinners can get it to turn anywhere. They just didn't give SA any chance. 2-0 is a wonderful position to be in. We want to cash in on that.

Markram: Not the best performance, no. It's a day we're gonna have to be really honest with ourselves. Not ideal [soft dismissals] starting from myself. It was always going to be difficult to defend but look, the day is over. We can't afford slip-ups now. It might bring out the best in us. It's a good position to be in.

Chahal: First away tour and I'm enjoying it here. It's about how mentally tough you are. Not too different from India, the conditions, maybe just the ground was a little smaller. When I took the first wicket and he [Kuldeep] came and took two wickets, the pressure was on the batsmen.

Yuzvendra Chahal is the Man of the Match.

WATCH - Kohli and Dhawan's 93-run stand. (Available in the Indian subcontinent).

2:38pm India are 2-0 up and they've done it with some dominance today. South Africa, without Faf today, couldn't recover after India's wristspinners let rip at the middle order. Yuzvendra Chahal got his first five-wicket haul in ODIs, and Kuldeep picked up his sixth three-wicket haul in 14 innings. Those two are coming closer to being permanent fixtures with every match. India's batsmen didn't have too much to do. Rohit Sharma fell early, but Dhawan's fifty in partnership with Kohli barely had any glitches. A nine-wicket win with nearly 30 overs to spare. Stick around as we bring you the presentation.

2 runs remain, and SA bowl 3-4 maidens on the trot? You cannot guarantee that 2 runs will take just a minute to get. You can always extend play saying that there are only 2 more runs to get, but at some point, you need to stop. That point has been decided by the ICC as 15 minutes. I see nothing wrong in that."

2:32pm Play about to begin now. Shamsi will do the honours.

2:28pm My colleague Sid Monga tells me there is still a decent crowd hanging around at the stadium.

Aalok Swamy: "To avoid such embarrassments, why not take the lunch break at innings break, even if the first innings gets completed in 30 overs? There's anyways a 10-minute break, so why not extend it to 45 minutes?"

Siddhesh: "@Param Gupta: Your point is valid, but I don't think cricket rules are meant to cover every possible scenario. Many rule-books have a catch-all that gives discretionary powers to the deciding official, who in this case would be the match referee. I guess the ICC just fears that there might be controversy in some other scenario if such discretionary powers are given, but we are anyways having a controversy so why not go that route?"

Shubham: "The captains cant make that decision because there might be a day when it is raining and one of the teams is benefitted by going off the field. It has to be the refrree and on field umpires who should let common sense prevail in these situations. Infact, it has to be a subjective decision. " --- And that kind of an [uncertain] day is when the officials should intervene. There couldn't be anything untoward if they asked Markram and Kohli whether they'd play another over.

Param Gupta: "Okay, I don't understand the outrage. They were allowed to extend play for 15 minutes, which they did. With 2 runs remaining, it's understandable, but where do you draw the line? Do you allow play to continue if there are 5 runs remaining? 10? 15? There needs to be a rule somewhere, and yes, inevitably sometimes it will be very close to the edge. I don't think it can always be a subjective call." --- If they'd taken lunch 15 minutes before with about 30 to get, it might not have been as unnerving. If you take an extension and fall short of a result that would have taken a minute to get, it's unbelievably silly. Surely this decision should be made by the captains, like in the last hour of a Test that's headed for a draw.

Arj: "On the bright side, this might finally force the ICC to look at modernising some of their more bizarre and outdated rules. God forbid they try add some common sense into the game"

Jasir: "Munching popcorn, thinking how dumb cricket can be. No wonder it's not a globally followed sport."

Mevin: "Rules in sports should be used as guidelines, umpires should use there common sense in real game situation. This is going to grab the headline more than the game."

Sandeep Verma : "This is why the match refree is in place. He could have directed the on field umpires to carry on playing for one more over. The match referee is more of a tourist in the current scenario. Why is a match refree needed then? ICC should look into these things and the role and relevance of match refree"

Raghav: "Well, you heard it here first. India win by 9 wickets! Mom - Chahal! India go up 2-0 up in the series! My prophetic powers coming from lunch being taken with India needing 2 runs with 31 overs remaining. "

Phillippe: "Well, maybe lunch will fortify the South Africans so they can come back and bowl 31 straight maidens?"

Uttam: "Where do you a draw a line between implementing rules and an absolute farce? This is a bad decision, not even funny. Try explaining this to a first time cricket watcher."

Varunkvk: "What if it rains now and the play is abondoned" --- Ha! One over to the 20-over cut-off too.

1;48pm "Guys, lunch," is the completely ridiculous decision that has just been made.

Neither team happy about it, of course, but they've gone by the rules. Once again, cricket shows its proclivity for archaic rules despite all the talk outside of play about fixing it to modern standards. Good luck explaining this to new audiences.
