New Zealand vs Bangladesh, 2nd ODI at Christchurch, BDESH in NZ, Feb 16 2019 - Ball by Ball Commentary

Time for the presentation:

Guptill: There was a lot of flow and rhythm in that one. Time spent in the middle in Napier helped me.

Mashrafe: Yea, it was a tough day. We lost early wickets, our partnerships were 30-odd, they could have been 60 and the match might have been different. Our top order has to step up little bit, Mithun has been scoring well, Mustafizur bowled well today. Not too many positives coming out from these matches. We have to play as a group, we scored 220-230 but we need to score 270-280 then we can fight it out

Williamson: It was a really good performance; the guys are coming out and playing their roles. There was a little bit there for us with the overcast conditions and we did well to pick regular wickets. We learnt some harsh lessons against India as individuals. We've seen Nice performances in the last two matches, especially from Guptill in terms of taking the momentum from the previous game. Scoring back-t-back hundreds is freakish. It was nice to spend some time in the middle and I wanted to play straight and I wanted to assist his freedom.

Just to confirm: Williamson has been rested for the third ODI, Colin Munro will play in his place. Tom Latham will captain the side in that match in Dunedin. That's it from the second ODI then, from me, Vishal Dikshit, and Varun Shetty. 5.57pm Taylor and Williamson come together to punch their gloves and then go on to shake hands with the Bangladesh team. Another comprehensive win for the hosts against Bangladesh, in very similar fashion as the first ODI. Bangladesh's batting is looking out of sorts against the accurate swing and pace bowling, their lower order (mainly Mithun) has saved them to cross a respectable 200 both times otherwise their batting hasn't clicked at all. And even while defending low totals, their bowling seems to lack that penetration or the threat a pace attack needs, especially in these conditions, to try and prepare for the World Cup. Bangladesh and New Zealand won't be playing more ODIs after this series until the global tournament in the summer. Not having Shakib for this series can't be the only reason for such a performance.

New Zealand will be feeling more confident about Guptill after the series loss against India. Guptill has two centuries in as many games and they must still be wondering whether Munro should open with him at the World Cup or Nicholls. Their lower order still hasn't been tested but having both Neesham and de Grandhomme in the squad bodes well for them.
