Scorecard
Craig Kieswetter's 47-ball half-century was enough to guide Somerset to their first CB40 win of the season, a 60-run success over Scotland at sunny Taunton.
The England one-day wicketkeeper hit eight fours and a six in his 56 to help the hosts to 206 all out after winning the toss, Jos Buttler making 32. Jean Symes claimed 3 for 31 and Josh Davey 3 for 22.
In reply Scotland were soon 31 for 4 as Alfonso Thomas and Jamie Overton grabbed two wickets each with the new ball. They were eventually bowled out for 146, Richie Berrington top scoring with 40 and Craig Meschede taking four for 27.
Kieswetter handed over the pads to Buttler when Scotland batted so he could bowl his occasional off-spin on a pitch that offered some turn. He came on for the 28th over with the score 113 for 7 and conceded 19 from two overs, taking the wicket of Craig Wallace, caught at long-off.
It was Kieswetter's third wicket off the season after claiming two at the end of a County Championship match at New Road.
Somerset had looked on course for a big total when openers Kieswetter and Nick Compton (23) took the score to 70 in the 13th over before Compton was caught behind off Davey. But Peter Trego then fell for a third ball duck in the same over and when Kieswetter's bright knock was ended by an lbw verdict in favour of Gordon Goudie it was 89 for 3.
Buttler and Hildreth added 50 in typically brisk style, but at 139 for 3 Hildreth chipped a return catch to Symes and fell for 26. From then on the Scotland bowlers, and particularly spinners Symes and Majid Haq, took a grip.
Symes got the ball to turn from the Old Pavilion End and bowled Buttler and Thomas, both deliveries spinning past the bat to hit off stump. It would have been worse for the hosts had Lewis Gregory not been dropped first ball by skipper Preston Mommsen off Symes. He went on to score 23 before becoming one of Haq's two victims.
Scotland looked to be recovering from the poor start to their innings when Mommsen and Berrington added 41 for the fifth wicket before Mommsen was bowled for 12 aiming to hit Meschede out of the ground.
It was Meschede who ended Berrington's resistance with the total on 100 as he holed out to George Dockrell at long-on. At that point the visitors required 107 from 15.1 overs. It never looked on. Ryan Flannigan did his best with 30 not out, but in a losing cause.
