Persistent rain and wet conditions forced the abandonment of the World Cricket League match between Canada and Netherlands in King City. The match had a delayed start on Tuesday because of the conditions and was reduced to 28-overs a side, but rains came after 10 overs in the second innings to stop play. There was a provision of a reserve day, but no play was possible on Wednesday forcing the umpires to call the match off.

Canada, who are placed at the bottom of the WCL points table, asked Netherlands to bat and had an encouraging start as Harvir Baidwan ran-out Stephan Myburgh in the second over of the innings. Netherlands' position got worse as they lost three more wickets in quick succession to be left tottering on 22 for 4 in the ninth over. With the innings on a standstill, Michael Swart tried to blast his way out with a four and six of successive deliveries, but was dismissed in the 11th over when he slapped a Kenneth Kamyuka slower delivery straight to point. When Peter Borren holed out at long-off in the 14th over, Netherlands were in danger of not lasting their full quota. But Ben Cooper produced a counter-attacking innings of 74 of 59 deliveries to shore up the score to 143.

Canada were making solid progress in their chase and were 62 for 1 after 10 overs when the rain halted play. The teams shared a point each for the result and Netherlands stayed second behind Ireland in the points table.
