Pakistan pull it off as Razzaq treads the razor's edge

Backed into the corner by the late withdrawal of Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Asif, Pakistan showed incredible self-belief and no little skill to pull off a splendid four-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in the first high-quality match of this Champions Trophy

What a fabulous win for Pakistan. Younis Khan has run out on to the ground with his players to high-five with the two batsmen. Younis turns around to find Woolmer to his left, goes across and hugs him. He even tries to lift him, Woolmer doesn't seem to mind! Waqar Younis is out there as well and huge smiles are plastered over all the Pakistani faces. And why not.

Pakistan usually roar when cornered and that's what they did today. To be fair, Sri Lankan spinners were troubled by the dew and were unable to rip it across. But it was their choice to field second. And that as they say is that.

Razzaq at the post-match talk: " I was under pressure, the situation was tense but thanks to god I managed to do the job."

Fernando to Abdul Razzaq, SIX runs, What a great win! Razzaq finishes it off in style. Almost a nonchalant hit. He takes his left foot out of the line, and creams a fullish delivery over long-off. The white ball screams over the boundary

Captain banned for few matches, the Board president resigned, two players doped out of the tournament and where are Pakistan now? Just 5 runs short of win.

Malinga to Abdul Razzaq, 1 run, There he goes again. Another whack, wants to finish it off in style, but can't get under the ball and it rolls towards long-on.

Malinga to Abdul Razzaq, 2 runs, slower ball but Razzaq spots it early, waits for the ball to arrive to cut it past point.

Malinga to Shoaib Malik, 1 run, Malik does the sensible thing by pushing one towards long-on. Easy single.

Malinga to Abdul Razzaq, 1 run, Goes for another big one, a slice over cover but doesn't time it well and it lands in no man's land. I suspect if he had connected well it might have gone down the deep cover's throat

Malinga to Abdul Razzaq, FOUR runs, Murderous assault on! Takes his front foot outside the line again and wallops it straight and clean through the line
