A fine victory for New Zealand, those perennial "dark horses", as we commentators love to call them. They are the first side through to the next round, and Pakistan face a shoot-out with South Africa for the other semi-final berth. That match takes place on Friday, and should be a cracker.

That's it from Cricinfo for now. I've been Andrew Miller (and I suppose I still am) and now I'm off to watch some Grand Prix darts on Sky Sports. In the meantime, don't forget to go to www.cricinfo.com/alerts and download our new desktop alerts system. It's all jolly clever, and what is more, it works

Mills to Kamran, OUT

and that's an emphatic way to finish! It's two wickets in two balls, as Fleming takes the catch that sends New Zealand into the semi-finals! Akmal gave himself room, and lollipopped a simple catch to short midwicket.

well, that livened things up! The substitute Ross Taylor pulls off a blinding pick-up-and-throw from gully to ping the non-striker's stumps. Bob Willis, who has clearly been drinking too much of the local tea, sums it up thus: "It's not Rudolph Nureev [sic], it's Umar Gul"
