Nicolaas Scholtz sinks Canada

A round-up of Group A games in the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier on November 23, 2013

Namibia 120 for 3 (van Schoor 58, Williams 37*) beat Canada 117 (Gunasekara 25, Nicolaas Scholtz 5-13) by seven wickets
Scorecard
Legspinner Nicolaas Scholtz took career-best figures of 5 for 13 to help Namibia dismiss Canada for 117, and opener Raymond van Schoor made an unbeaten half-century to finish the chase with three balls to spare.
Canada's top-order batsmen all made starts after they were sent in, but none of them were able to score more than Ruvindu Gunasekara's run-a-ball 25. And before Nicolaas Scholtz began running through the line-up, his brother Bernard struck twice to reduce Canada to 79 for 4 in the 13th over. Canada progressed to 109 for 4 before the crash, when they lost six wickets for eight runs and were dismissed for 117. Nicolaas Scholtz took five of those wickets in three overs.
Namibia lost Louis van der Westhuizen early in the chase but van Schoor was solid and got support from his next two partners. Namibia's run-rate was on the slower side, though, and after van Schoor was run out off the first ball of the final over, ending a third-wicket stand of 62 with Craig Williams, they still needed six runs to win. Williams, however, scored the runs required off the next two balls and remained unbeaten on 37.
Later in the day it was announced that left-arm spinner van der Westhuizen, following an analysis of his bowling action, is required to undergo remedial work on his action, specifically for his arm ball.
Italy 158 for 5 (Crowley 59, Petricola 38) beat United Arab Emirates 91 (Shafiq 25, Munasinghe 3-19) by 67 runs
Scorecard
A 48-ball 59 from Damian Crowley, followed by three wickets from the seamer Gayashan Munasinghe, powered Italy to a comprehensive 67-run victory over United Arab Emirates in Abu Dhabi.
Crowley hit three fours and two sixes during his knock, and added 67 for the third wicket with Peter Petricola, who made 38. Carl Sandri added a late surge to the innings, whacking 30 off 20 deliveries with one four and two sixes, as Italy finished at 158 for 5 from their 20 overs.
UAE never really got going in their chase and lost wickets at regular intervals right from the off. Munasinghe removed the top three batsmen within three overs, before Crowley caught Khurram Khan off his own bowling, leaving the hosts precariously placed at 14 for 4 after four overs.
Mohammad Shafiq top-scored with 25, but eight of UAE's batsmen managed single-digit scores, as Crowley and Gareth Berg picked up two wickets apiece to skittle them out for 91 in 16.2 overs.
After the game, the ICC confirmed in a statement that UAE offspinner Nasir Aziz had had his bowling action cleared following an analysis of it.
