11.12 pm local time: Deccan have lost all seven matches at home, Chennai have qualified for the semi-finals, there by knocking Mumbai out of the competition. Deccan never had enough runs to defend after scoring only 147. Their stars failed once again and even though it went down to the last over during the run-chase Chennai were always in control.

The semi-finals line-up is Rajasthan v Delhi, and Punjab v Chennai.

"Why not give last over to your best bowler, which is Scott Styris and not Vijaykumar," asks Tushar. Beats me as well, or even Afridi. Styris gave only 16 off his three overs.

"Dravid, Laxman, Tendulkar and Ganguly the four icons, along with Kumble are out of T20 competition. That says something," says Raj.

Gilchrist apologises to the fans in Hyderabad for not giving them a victory at home. He's received with a huge cheer.

Dhoni says it's a matter of prestige to reach the semi-finals even though the path wasn't easy. "There was pressure, we have done well in the past. We were capable of reaching the semis, we have the best middle order and it was just about the bowling."

The Man of the Match is Suresh Raina for his unbeaten 54 off 43 balls. He controlled Chennai's run-chase and took them into the final four with a six over long-on in the final over.

Chennai's win today means that tomorrow's match between Mumbai and Bangalore is a dead rubber. It'll be good to watch Jayasuriya and Pollock for one last time though. The second match is a potential cracker between Punjab and Rajasthan, the top two teams in the league. That's it from us at Cricinfo today, this is George Binoy signing off. Good night and thank you for all your emails.

Vijaykumar to Raina, SIX runs

Raina's won it with a six! Chennai are in the semi-finals and Raina's got his 50 as well, he gets down on one knee to a length ball, gets under it, and lofts the ball cleanly over the long-on boundary, the other Super Kings rush in to mob Raina

1
Vijaykumar to Morkel, 1 run

length ball angling across the left-hander, Morkel swings across the line and mis-times the ball to midwicket where Ojha dives and stops the ball

Chennai need seven off the last over. It's very gettable but stranger things have happened in this tournament. Morkel on strike, Gilchrist's given the last over to Vijaykumar. Fine leg is in the circle.
