and it's over, Sangakkara backs away and slaps it through the covers for a boundary, and Delhi go down, Punjab stay alive
Daredevils vs Kings XI, 46th match at Bloemfontein, IPL, May 15 2009 - Ball by Ball Commentary
Kings XI won by 6 wickets (with 5 balls remaining)
Sangakkara showed the importance on hanging on to your wicket even in Twenty20. Delhi's bowlers were just a touch indisciplined when the match was getting tight, Sangwan was one of their heroes against Deccan Chargers but it was a day to forget today. Nehra was outstanding at the start of the innings, and Vettori was tidy as well, but Delhi's fielding wasn't at it's best. A dropped catch off Yuvraj proved pretty costly as he and Sangakkara put on a vital 53 runs. Then it was Irfan who took them past the line, with three big sixes just as Delhi were sscrapping their way back into the game.
Post-match presentation: Virender Sehwag: "We didn't bat well, but our bowlers did a fantastic job and at one stage we almost won the game.
"Twenty20 is bad type of cricket because if you start losing you keep on losing, I don't want us to go that way"
Yuvraj Singh: "If we had lost this game, I don't know where I'd hide my face. Our bowling was excellent, and our batting was decent. Anything between 120 and 140 was chase-able. Hopefully, Jayawardene gets back to full fitness soon, we need to bat well."
Brett Lee is the Man of the Match. Lee: "Starting to get there, I was pretty happy with the way I bowled tonight. I'm just trying to get through each game, my ankle is feeling okay which is exciting." Lee also praises the way Sreesanth and Irfan bowled.
He also says: "We aren't looking too forward ahead. Our whole focus is now on Sunday's game."

great bit of fielding from Sangwan takes the match to the final over, it was short on legstump, the batsman swivelled and pulled it towards fine leg, Sangwan was quick across the turf to cut that off
full and on legstump, Irfan can't get that away but it thuds into his pads and dribbles towards backward point
swatted powerfully towards midwicket, the batsmen sprint through for a couple
Punjab fans will relish this one, Irfan rocks back and gets under a length ball on legstump, clouts it high over wide long-on, just clear the rope by a few yards, would have been caught if the boundaries weren't pulled in
oh Delhi fans won't like that, another one down leg
half-volley on legstump, Maharoof is lucky to get away with that one, Irfan can't put it away
yorker just outside legstump, hits the pads and runs away towards square leg
more poor bowling, wide down the leg side, can't afford that in these tight situations
Nehra rushes over to the bowler's and gives him a couple of words of encouragement
that was awful from Sangwan, hard to criticise an 18-year-old, but that was a full toss on the pads, was asking to be hit out of the park, Irfan swings it over the square-leg boundary
this was a bit fuller, Irfan couldn't quite get under it, he slams it straight to the mid-on fielder
Shot! pressure reliever for Punjab, short and again in the corridor outside off, Irfan was down the pitch and he mows it over midwicket for a big six
low full toss, around the offstump, Sangakkara moves away and carves it towards point
yorker just outside off, dug out back towards the bowler
shortish and coming into Sangakkara, he stays on the back foot and tries to pound it over mid-off, mistimed and he just about clears the fielder
Only three runs off this over, Delhi are showing why they are so hard to beat
oof that was close, full and just outside off, Sangakkara was looking for the off-drive, gets an inside-edge and the french cut gets Punjab a run
back of a length offcutter, bounces sharply over the stumps, Sangakkara had shuffled across to swings it toward fine leg, but he doesn't connect either
again a length ball on off, Irfan was onto the shot early, was in the air a bit but it lands safely before reaching long-on
this is fuller and a lot wider, Irfan was looking to scythe that through cover, but doesn't make contact
no flourishes from Bhatia, length ball on offstump, just the basics, defended by Irfan
fullish ball outside off, Sangakkara bent his kne and crashed that powerfully towards cover, Dilshan's dive keeps the batsmen to a single
Over 20 • KXIP 123/4
