Presentation

Kevin Pietersen is the Man of the Match He says: "It was a great victory. We let maybe a few too many, but Robin Uthappa's innings is some of the best hitting I have ever seen. I saw it on the TV from Bangladesh, but to watch it live from the other end was something else. I happily played the anchor role. I have played against Brett in Tests, and to hit him like that, all credit to Robin."

Anil Kumble "It was a good wicket to bat on, it got a bit slower, but we knew we could get it. The way KP, Virat and Robin - his innings changed the game - batted was satisfactory. It is a good win for us after two losses in a row, chasing 180."

Kumar Sangakkara "It does hurt. Big total on the board, we bowled well in the first 10, but the fielding let us down. That;s the story of the tournament. We have had opportunities, we haven't delivered."

KP's fist clinching goes on for at least 30 seconds. That's about a second for every two runs scored. After winning a league match in IPL. And he was duly helped by a poor, atrocious fielding show by Punjab. It didn't quite beat the standards that Indian and Sri Lanka set in Mohali in their Twenty20 international last year, which was well and truly appalling, but Punjab were really bad in the field. Of course KP, Kohli and Uthappa planned the chase well, but they were let off easy when it was time to work real hard. Hang around for the presentation

Lee to White, FOUR runs

that's the blow that should do it! White has got his eye in, and clears the front leg to smack this length delivery between long-on and long-off. You don't bowl three length deliveries in a row to White

18.5
1
Lee to Pietersen, 1 run

another full toss hit down to long-off, another single

18.4
1
Lee to White, 1 run

Pathan to Uthappa, OUT

and finally somebody has held onto a catch! Uthappa walks down the wicket to send this flying down the ground again, but gets a toe edge through to Bisla. Too late for Punjab?

Pathan to Pietersen, FOUR runs

insult, meet injury! Now comes the clean hit, over extra cover, four more

17.3
4
Pathan to Pietersen, FOUR runs

that's the definitive image of Punjab's night: Sangakkara lying on his face having dropped yet another catch off a full toss that got KP's bat high. Sanga ran from cover backwards, got under it, and somehow let it through, and while tumbling over he kicked it to the boundary

17.2
2
Pathan to Pietersen, 2 runs

another drop, although this is a tough chance for Sharma running from sweeper-cover to his right. Brings up KP's first IPL fifty

17.1
Pathan to Pietersen, no run

oh wild shot from KP, dances down the track and swings and misses

That over should do it for Bangalore then. But stranger things happen in IPL - 23 off 18 required

another yorker, digs it out to third man for one. No appeal this time

16.3

length ball this time, and Uthappa has slapped it into the sight screen, one bounce

16.1
6
Lee to Uthappa, SIX runs

what a shot! clean clean strike! No power, no back lift, just one front foot down the wicket and a high-elbowed loft on a low full toss, 10 rows behind long-off

Two runs per ball required. Dibbu wakes up: "When did Pietersen reach Bangalore? Looks like I have been watching cricketers as machines, without noticing faces and personalities, except Sachin, of course :))" Lee comes back
