Presentation:

Sourav Ganguly: It was good, great cricketing pitch. When you win against a team like Chennai you get a buzz. Proud of the way the bowlers bowled, Ashish Nehra and Ashok Dinda did a good job. Smith has improved immensely from what I had seen last.

MS Dhoni: It was even-steven, but our execution wasn't good, we have struggled in the first six and the last few overs. Just wanted to check who wanted to bowl, asked YoMi whether he wanted to bowl and he looked positive, so threw him the ball. That is how you learn.

Jesse Ryder, man of the match: I wanted to bat through the innings, I wanted to continue with that idea, Steven Smith made it easy for me to do that. This was a different track to the one we played on in the first game and made it easy to play the strokes. The home crowd is amazing and they are supporting us well. Smith did a good job too. I didn't want to throw my wicket away after getting a flier.

Ryder deflected the question on the Samuels incident.

Pune have chased this down really well and made it three wins out of four games! Jesse Ryder did a good job of batting through the innings, even managing to shrug off a period of friction with his batting partner, Marlon Samuels. Smith's 22-ball 44 provided a perfect finish to the game for the Warriors.

Chennai won a close game last time, this time they lose it and have two wins from five games now. They will be a tad worried with this start, although we all know how well they have comeback after slow starts before. Stay tuned for the presentation.

Mahesh to Smith, SIX runs

dropped! Six! What a shot! What a game! Pitched up to the bat and Smith smacks it from the middle of the bat to the sweeper fielder, Ravindra Jadeja, who had to run to his right and he got his hand to it. It was a catch alright, on another day, under other conditions, he would have caught it, this was not his or his team's night though and he tips it over the bar for a six!

Mahesh to Smith, FOUR runs

horrid, horrid delivery after the kind of field set for him! It was a full-toss and it was on his pads and with the fine-leg up in the circle, it has been flicked away to the fence.

Yo Mahesh will bowl the final over. That is placing a lot of faith on a young player on his Chennai Super Kings debut. Two points in place!

full-toss and he tried to smoke it into the stands. Mistimes it and that takes the edge through to the third-man fielder. 10 needed from the last over.

Kulasekara to Ryder, 1 run

pitched right up to the bat, and played away to the point fielder, even Ryder is off quickly for a single

1
Kulasekara to Smith, 1 run

another one pitched right up and played away to the off-side for a single. Pune are on top at the moment!

18.3
4
Kulasekara to Smith, FOUR runs

full-toss and that is dug out really well on the off-side through the point region for a four.

Ball changed.

Kulasekara to Smith, FOUR runs

on the middle-stump and Smith has whipped it from there and put it to the mid-wicket fence! Another important boundary.

1
Kulasekara to Ryder, 1 run

played away to the long-on fielder for a single.

Many asking why Ravindra Jadeja isn't bowling, but only Kasi V Sridharan asking: "Why Ajay Jadeja is not bowling in this game?"

Probably because he is not warmed up enough in the air-conditioned studios.

outside the off-stump, goes to scoop it over the fine-leg but misses it! That over keeps the game alive and in balance.

17.5
Dwayne Bravo to Smith, no run

pitched up, walks down the track and almost yorks himself, beaten. That was more than 140 km/hr of speed.

4
Dwayne Bravo to Smith, FOUR runs

full-pitched and that is edged away to fine third-man for a four! Yes, those were the two boundaries I was speaking of!

Dwayne Bravo to Smith, SIX runs

full-toss and that is smacked down the ground for a six! They needed it and they have got it, to relieve the pressure for the time being.

1
Dwayne Bravo to Ryder, 1 run

up into the block-hole and Ryder isn't able to get under it, taps it to the off side for a run. They need a couple of boundaries here.

another excellent ball to end an over that costs him five. Outside the off-stump, and Ryder went for a drive, misses it.

Kulasekara to Ryder, 2 runs

right up to the batsman and outside the off-stump and drilled to long-off. The throw was to the striker's end, hits the stump and deflects for an overthrow.

16.4
1
Kulasekara to Smith, 1 run

pitched up and Smith goes for a slog. He did not get enough on that one and the long-off fielder comes around to field it easily.

16.3
1
Kulasekara to Ryder, 1 run

slogged away to the leg-side for a single

Time taken for field placements. Dhoni has had a couple of match bans for poor over-rate against him.

16.2
1
Kulasekara to Smith, 1 run

full-toss and drilled down the ground for a single Ryder's back on strike.

16.1
Kulasekara to Smith, no run

tries to go for a pull and mistimes the shot. Had that hit, it would have gone into the stands. It did not and went nowhere!

39 off 24 is very achievable. Especially with Ryder going great guns. The rope has been brought out to scatter the dew I think
