So that's it from us for this game. Chennai were just too good for Kolkata once Brendon McCullum had laid them that platform. Kolkata's bowlers might feel they gave away too many, particularly on a pitch that had a lot of help in it for the spinners, and Ravindra Jadeja showed them that this was certainly the case when he came on and took four wickets that settled the contest for good. Chennai have made it five wins in six games, and Kolkata have two from six.

Thanks for tuning in, and sending in all your comments. This is Karthik Krishnaswamy, your commentator for the day, signing off.

Here's MS Dhoni, at the post-match presentation. He says he was worried about how the pitch might behave, but decided to bat first with the thought that it might slow down later. Chennai decided to keep the same combination, he added, because they had Dwayne Smith as a back-up seam option.

Ravindra Jadeja is the Man of the Match. He says he felt it would be a good day as soon as he bowled a few balls on this pitch.

chibi: "Both orange and purple has 2 superkings players in the top 3 ! That shows the team's strength."

Sohom: "KKR'S DOT BALL PERCENTAGE IS 47%, AND THEY NEED TO LOOK INTO THAT IF THEY ARE TO BE AT LEAST COMPETITIVE IN THE UPCOMING GAMES."

Mohit Sharma's three wickets, meanwhile, took him to 11 wickets, which means he's now in possession of the Purple Cap.

Gautam Gambhir says there have been a few good individual performances from Kolkata's players, but they haven't clicked as a team yet. "We won seven games in a row when we won the IPL," he says, and hopes they can go on a similar run. Uthappa, he adds, is likely to continue at the top of the order.

Big win here from Chennai, and it never looked in doubt after Jadeja came on and took two wickets in two balls. Robin Uthappa fought hard, but it was always going to be difficult when so many wickets were falling around him. Most of Chennai's bowlers bowled well, but that couldn't be said of Kolkata's bowlers, who bowled far too short to Brendon McCullum, and that in the end proved the biggest difference between the two sides.

Sharma to Narine, 1 run

He can. It's a slower ball, angled into the left-hander from around the wicket, and he waits on it before dabbing it behind point.

One ball, 57 to get. Mohit on a hat trick. Narine can't prevent defeat, but can he prevent the hat-trick?

Sharma to Pathan, OUT

Full, angled in, lbw. Pathan looks to slog across the line, and misses. Hits him right in front of off stump. Plumb.

Full, wide outside off, and Chawla swings it straight down long-off's throat.

Sharma to Pathan, 1 run

Short, rising ball outside off. Pathan top-edges the attempted pull, but it falls well short of deep square leg.

Sheikh Mudasir: "Dd they not tell Yousuf it is a 17 over game not 20?"

Here, meanwhile, is Piyush Chawla, on strike for the first time. Mohit to go around the wicket to the left-hander.

Sharma to Pathan, 1 run

Full, straight, in the blockhole, hit down to long-on.

40 off six balls. This is still mathematically possible, given a couple of no-balls. In comes Mohit, with that distinctive hop of his.

Wide outside off again, gives Yusuf a lot of room to swing. He makes clean contact, and it goes way over long-on.

wide yorker, testing the limits of the wide rule. Yusuf lets it go, but the umpire is unmoved.

Big clean swing of those arms and the ball goes sailing over the midwicket boundary.

Two overs to go, 59 to get. It's still mathematically possible, folks. Hilfenhaus is in.

"WOW! What AGGRESSIVE captaincy by Dhoni! He has bowled out Ashwin & Jadeja with 3 overs still left in the game. Kudos to him for going for the kill !!" Would he have done that if Kolkata had more wickets in hand? Who knows. Here's Mohit.

Quicker ball, and Russell can only pat it back to the bowler. End of a top spell from Jadeja, on a pitch designed for his style of bowling.

13.5
Jadeja to Russell, no run

Stretches forward to defend.

Good innings from Uthappa, but he slowed down once the spinners came on. It became difficult to score after that, though, with the pitch behaving oddly at times and Ashwin and Jadeja bowling well. Uthappa could have certainly used some support from the other end. Here's Andre Russell.
