How crucial has Dilshan been for Delhi this season? He didn't get much playing time last season and when he did there weren't too many positive results but this year he has scored three match-winning half-centuries. All the more special because Delhi's two batting stars from 2008, the explosive openers, have been real flops so far. Today AB de Villiers also flopped and so the pressure was on Dilshan. He was aided excellently by Dinesh Karthik, who batted really impressively for his 41 from 30 balls. That partnership of 79 took the game away from Deccan and then Dilshan's late flourish just stunned them. Edwards had a rare bad day, bowling too many four-balls, and then ... well, that last over was pretty ordinary.

This was a win fashioned in the field after Sehwag opted to field. Dirk Nannes was the star with two ickets, crucially getting Deccan's in-form openers cheaply, while the two spinners were impressive too. Nehra too came back from a bad first over to vary his pace and use the yorkers well as Delhi came back well in the last few overs of Deccan's innings. Karthik started the fightback and Dilshan hung around.

Deccan's run has been halted at four by the one team that looked like being able to do so.

Dirk Nannes is the Man of the Match for figures of 2 for 16 from four overs.

Edwards to Dilshan, SIX runs

all over! Dilshan is the man! Edwards tries another short ball but Dilshan is too smart, waits in his crease for this very delivery and pulls it flat behind square leg for a six that seals victory by six wickets ... a great way to raise a fifty and finish the game by Dilshan

Edwards to Dilshan, 2 runs

very full and this one is squirted into the off side for quick couple

Edwards to Dilshan, (no ball) FOUR runs

Fidel, Fidel, Fidel! Just failed to keep a check on his emotions, tries too hard and oversteps, drops it in short and Dilshan, waiting for the ball, pulls past midwicket

18.2
Edwards to Dilshan, no run

bouncer! Edwards charges in and drops short, Dilshan makes a hash of the pull and takes the ball on the side of the helmet, purely beaten for pace, the ball drops into the off side and Dilshan hears a few words of advice from Edwards

Edwards to Dilshan, 1 wide

gets across and goes for that paddle to one sliding down leg stump, umpire Baxter calls wide and Edwards shakes his head

Edwards to Dilshan, FOUR runs

full on off stump and thats a super shot, just cleared the leg, deep in his crease, and clubbed it along the ground into the gap at mid-off and extra cover

Delhi need 17 from 12 balls. Edwards will bowl out after a change of ends.

slower ball, gently tossed up, Manhas makes room with good footwork and chips the ball over extra cover, long-off runs after it and cuts it off near the ropes

Poor shot from Karthik but he had to keep going after the runs. Ojha gets his name in.

Ojha to Karthik, OUT

oh thats plumb! Ojha comes in from around the stumps and strikes first ball, tossing it up on the stumps and Karthik picks the wrong ball to try and sweep, he misses and gets hit right in front of middle stump
