That's it from me then guys, now I have to catch a late-night train back home! But it was a ripper of a contest and the result makes the points table an interesting one to look at. I will be back for tomorrow's game between Chennai and Hyderabad - till then have a great night ahead! Ciao!

Presentation

Gautam Gambhir: tough night, was a good wicket to bat on. They batted well, credit should go to them. I thought Dwayne batted well, the entire unit did well, they planned it well. Just not able to cross the line. I think Eden is always a good batting track.

Rohit Sharma: Good start to captaincy, happy with the way we fought. Didn't get a good start but the comeback was superb. We always knew that we have guys who could get us back into the game, didnt expect the start we got but pulled it back well. Smith's was a great innings, the wicket stays low and slow and he played well. It was my first game and there were a few nerves.

Dwayne Smith is the man of the match: Very happy with the striking, told myself to get in. Got out at the wrong time but thankfully we got through. Narine's their main bowler and needed to keep him out.

------------------

I am catching some of my breath and getting my fingers back in shape after that thriller of a contest. The slower bowlers were always going to be difficult to get away but Mumbai seem to have done well to chase down what looked to be a stiff target. Dwayne Smith smacked a 62, Rohit and Pollard carved out 30s before Rayadu put that icing on the cake. Narine took the wickets, Balaji stalled the runs, but Senanayake gave away far too many runs on a track that should have supported him. Probably a case of an off day after couple of good games for the Sri Lankan.

------------------

sidharth: "And this, ladies and gents, is how you go from being a villain to hero in sixty seconds!!"

Yusuf: "In short KKR lost this match in the last over of their batting, fantastic double wicket 3 run over by Malinga. Go MI go..."

Abhishek: "This is how 1 six can weigh more than 26 runs in an over..."

pulkit: "Y did gambhir have to give last over to bhatia.....he always does bad in last over....giving full tosses....just match against CSK last season...." Kallis' absence seems to have hurt the KKR a lot.

Nandan: "poor narine...always collects the purple cap at the end of the match...with his team on the losing side"

Dheeraj: "Third match on trot where I'll put the blame of KKR's loss to Yusuf Pathan. In last match he dropped a catch and the match. Today he misfielded and gave away easy runs in such a crunch situation. KKR, for goodness sake, drop him from the team."

Murali J: "After 6 seasons the points table looks really interesting with points across the table shared.." And you can look at the updated table here

Prasenjit: "Why was Narine handed over the PURPLE CAP? Was not he wearing one?" And now he has two of them, unlike his teammates!

19.5
4
Bhatia to Rayudu, FOUR runs

full-toss and Rayadu has hit it over extra-cover for a four! Bhatia seemed to have come up with the plan of bowling it well full but the batsmen read him well last three balls, was a full-toss this time from the bowler and the batsman had hopped down the track to smack it through to the fence and win it for the side

Bhaskar: "Time for bhajji to make up that first over"

Umang: "Redemption time for Bhajji?"

Prako: "Bhajji's horror over started it all, can he redeem himself here?"

He seems to be doing that.

19.4
1
Bhatia to Harbhajan, 1 run

very full but quicker too, outside the off stump and driven down the ground for a single

19.3
6
Bhatia to Harbhajan, SIX runs

whoa, what a shot, what an amazing shot from a man who has been under pressure all night! it was slightly fuller from Bhatia and he gave it the full swing of the bat, hits the middle and it's gone all the way over the mid-wicket fence!

9 needed off 4. Harbhajan on strike.

19.2
1
Bhatia to Rayudu, 1 run

goes down the track and hits it straight to the long-off fielder, seems to have taken it on the bounce, on the half-volley and Tiwary seems to have hurt himself there, just a single there though

10 off five needed. Harbhajan walks out.

19.1
W
Bhatia to Pollard, OUT

on his pads and he's spooned it straight to the fielder! was a slower one, almost a leg-spinner and Pollard was looking to smash it over the leg side, but is beaten by the pace, it goes high up in the air and Tiwary takes that very easily!

Kieron Pollard c Tiwary b Bhatia 33 (24b 2x4 1x6 38m) SR: 137.5

10 needed from the last six balls. Bhatia with the ball. Long, long break between the overs. Just as a reminder, Mumbai lead Kolkata 8-2 on all head-to-head.

Harsha and many others: "How crucial is that excellent last over from Malinga proving to be! Wow!"

Balaji to Rayudu, 2 runs

short of length and he was looking to drive it on the up to long-off, went straight to the fielder but Pollard's run really quickly to almost lap his partner! gets back for the second run and in time too, retains the strike as well

18.5
1
Balaji to Pollard, 1 run

slogged away but there's no pace on the ball and hence, no pace on the shot either, rolls over to the deep square-leg area for a single

18.4
1
Balaji to Rayudu, 1 run

angles back into the batsman who opens the face of the bat and guides it to backward point for a single

18.3
1
Balaji to Pollard, 1 run

another one that's very wide outside the off stump, wide enough to be called but he goes for a slog, gets it to long-on for a single

18.2
1
Balaji to Rayudu, 1 run

fuller and hes lying on his back foot, opens the face of the bat to the short third-man region for a single, bit of a fumble form Pathan again!

18.1
2
Balaji to Rayudu, 2 runs

wide outside the off and that should have been left alone, instead he goes for a slash and hits it straight to the fielder, Pathan, at the sweeper region and a misfield allows them to get a second

18 off 12 needed. Not too difficult but on a slow track, it could go down the wire. Thisara Perera had smacked three sixes at a similar stage on a similar pitch though.

1
Senanayake to Rayudu, 1 run

does not turn and he gets a leading edge trying to work it to the leg side, quick-fire single

17.1
1
Senanayake to Pollard, 1 run

shorter and on his pads, easily tucked away to the deep square-leg region for a single

Narine ends with 3/17 in four overs. Still within range for Mumbai. 28 in three overs required.

Narine to Rohit Sharma, OUT

gone, caught and bowled! it was turning back into the batsman and the ball seems to have never come on to the bat, Rohit was on the back foot way before he should have been and the defensive stroke leads to the ball popping up for Narine to take an easy catch to his left
