That's it for tonight. Join us tomorrow to find out which teams make it to the main draw of the tournament. Cheers

Steve Snell is deservedly the MoM with his cool head in the end. He says, "It was nice to be out there and playing in a high-pressure game. We were trying to be calm, and thought one boundary an over would win us the game. We knew even if we needed 15 in the last over, we were in the game. Didn't want to lose it before that. Pretty delighted to get there in the end. I am a back-up for two internationals, a spare keeper if you like. So enjoyed it."

Gareth Hopkins: It is gut-wrenching to go this close and fall short. We were just looking to play straighter, but I think we had enough with our experiecned bowling line-up. The Somerset boys played really well in the end.

Alfonso Thomas: We didn't deserve to win it until the last couple of overs really, the way we batted. It was a bit of deja vu really to go out and finish a game here. The goal is always to get into the second half where we have two more international players coming

Two nights, two heartbreaks for Auckland Aces. Somerset are thrilled, van der Merwe is the first one to charge in and join in the celebrations. Emphatic shakes of hands in the Somerset camp, despondent ones in the Auckland one. Remember the curse of the 19th over. Two edged boundaries. Game over. Although Auckland can't put it all down to luck. You expect teams to protect the boundaries behind the stumps when the lower order is in. They didn't. And then there was the drop in the 19th over. I'm telling you over No. 19 is cursed in this tournament. Happened with Ruhunu and T&T too.

And what a huge relief for Somerset, known of late for losing the pressure games. Credit to Hildreth and Snell for hanging in

Bates to Thomas, 1 run

full outside off, Thomas swings, lofts this over the infield, and Somerset win

In comes captain Thomas. He needs one run here. He knows they are not losing this without a Super Over. Eight men inside the circle

1W
Bates to Hildreth, 1 run, OUT

low full toss, driven to deep cover, they take risking the new batsman by going for the second here. The throw is not accurate but is quick enough to catch him short. Hildreth has played a good hand, but Somerset needs one more run here

James Hildreth run out (Munro/†Hopkins) 34 (34b 2x4 0x6 46m) SR: 100

Long-off comes in now. Tense stuff

19.4
1
Bates to Snell, 1 run

this is chipped into the leg side, two bounces to deep midwicket

Now we have a short midwicket saving one

19.3
1
Bates to Hildreth, 1 run

what is happening here? Hit straight to point, but there is no one on the leg side to back up the throw. So Jimmy Adams lets the single through

19.2
1
Bates to Snell, 1 run

length ball on the pads, hit to deep midwicket. No man to save one on the leg side. Not the smartest bit of captaincy

19.1
Bates to Snell, no run

lovely yorker on middle and leg. Bates is refusing to die. Can he pull something off here?

Bates to bowl the final over. Only four runs to defend

Mills to Hildreth, 2 runs

slogged along the ground, wide of long-on, comes back for two. Mills fails to collect the throw cleanly. They had mae it anyway

Mills to Hildreth, FOUR runs

Oh the educated edges. This is another low full toss, and has taken the back of the bat to fly between the keeper and short third man

18.4
Mills to Hildreth, no run

Dropped. Second return catch put down by Mills. He saw Hildreth make room early, to me it seemed he was pulling out of the shot. A low full toss ensues, hit back to Mills, who makes a one-handed attempt, and spills this. He has a chat with umpire. Did he also think the batsman had pulled out of this delivery

18.3

Mills to Hildreth, FOUR runs

but Mills bowls a slower ball well outside off, and Hildreth plays this cheeky little late cut between the keeper and short third man. Intelligent batting

Fine leg goes back, point comes in

18.2

Mills to Snell, 1 run

yorker into the pads, digs it out to deep square leg for one

18.1

Mills to Snell, FOUR runs

The inside edge. Cruel for Auckland. Somerset will take it with both hands. This is the slower offcutter, and it goes between the keeper and short fine

Twenty required off the last two. Auckland needed 22 last night. Mills will bowl this over, which means Bates will continue bowling one-over spells, and will also bowl the last over

top shot, Snell is doing really well here. This time he gets the quicker one, on a length, outside off, scoops this over short fine. However, Munro puts in a desperate dive to prevent the boundary

17.5
2
Martin to Snell, 2 runs

Martin nearly gets another wicket with a slower one. This is the legcutter, Snell slogs, Vincent back-pedals from midwicket as opposed to turning around and running. It falls over his shoulder

17.4
1
Martin to Hildreth, 1 run

slower ball again, swiped across the line, gets a single to midwicket

17.3

Martin to Snell, 1 run

slower ball again, shortish outside off, dabbed away to third man for one

Martin to Snell, FOUR runs

The much-needed boundary! Snell gets a low full toss, clears the front leg out of the way, and lofts him straight over his head

17.1

Martin to Hildreth, 1 leg bye

starts off with a slower ball, hits the pad well outside off, concedes just the one leg-bye

Edged! Slower offcutter again, this time the thick edge flies wide of the diving Hopkins. What a way to go for six runs in an over for the first time in this tournament

16.5
Bates to Snell, no run

bouncer this time, he slogs at it, and swings under the ball
