Scorecard
Murray Goodwin's 70th first-class hundred put Glamorgan in a healthy position on the opening day of their Division Two clash with in-form Lancashire at Old Trafford.
The former Zimbabwe Test batsman was central to the visitors' commanding score of 315 for 3 at stumps after they had won the toss and elected to bat first on a pitch that is expected to turn significantly later on in the week.
He finished the day on 138 not out off 245 balls, hitting 18 fours, and shared an unbroken stand of 130 for the fourth wicket with Jim Allenby, who finished on 68 not out.
Lancashire, who have won their last three matches to go top of Division Two by a point from Northamptonshire, selected two spinners in Simon Kerrigan and debutant Arron Lilley but the pair only bowled two maidens in 43 overs between them.
Will Bragg was the first batsman to go in the 17th over when he drove at Kerrigan and was caught at slip by Ashwell Prince at slip, leaving the score at 43 for 1.
Lancashire had to wait until after lunch for their second wicket, Gareth Rees superbly caught at first slip by a diving Andrea Agathangelou off Kyle Hogg as he drove. Rees departed with 58 as Glamorgan reached 120 for 2 in the 36th over.
The third wicket was that of Chris Cooke, who was culpable as he slapped a short ball from Kerrigan straight down Luke Procter's throat at cover just before tea to leave Glamorgan on 185 for 3.
Goodwin's hundred was his fourth against Lancashire and he shared partnerships of 77 inside 21 overs for the second wicket with Rees, 65 in 25 for the third with Cooke before uniting for 35.3 overs with Allenby.
He offered Kerrigan a return catch while on 129 late in the day but it was not a good day for Lancashire's spinners.
